About Lohagad fort is one of the forts of Maratha Samrajya. Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj wins this fort in the sixteenth century from Aadilshah. This fort helped them to keep watch on the enemy’s activity all around Bore ghat. Surrounding the lohagad forest is added advantage in fort security. It’s a good place for one day trip.

लोहगड किल्ला मराठा साम्राज्यातील एक महत्त्वाचा किल्ला आहे. सोळाव्या शतकात छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराजांनी हा किल्ला आदिलशहाकडून जिंकून घेतला होता. बोर घाटाच्या सभोवतालच्या शत्रूच्या हालचालींवर लक्ष ठेवण्यास या किल्ल्याने त्यांना मदत केली. लोहगड घनदाट जंगलाचा परिसर असल्याने. त्या दुर्गमतेचा किल्ल्याच्या सुरक्षेत आणखी फायदा झाला आहे. एका दिवसाच्या सहलीसाठी हे उत्तम ठिकाण आहे.

Personal Experience

We visited this place with one of my bike riding group Nc bike riders. Total 17 riders in a group. It’s a night ride, We booked our hotel near Lohagad. We started our ride at 8:30 pm from Mumbai. I’m on the tail and my colleague Rakesh leads a group. We take a dinner near Chowk. After dinner, we start our ride and reach lohagad at 12:15 am. We arrange many night activities just like singing, Antakshari.  some of our members make Popti a special food for camping.

Our hotel Godai has a very good architectural design. It looks like a boat on a mountain. It’s just 1.5 km away from the lohagad base. I recommend this place as a beautiful location and budget-friendly accommodation and food.

We started climbing towards lohagad. We are total 21 person started singing patriotic songs and Maharashtra Geet. Jay Jay Maharashtra mazaIn front of main door. Every one enjoy lot. After that we reached at top of the fort. Some of our team members like Vinchu kada which located at one side of Lohagad. We found Small ponds of clear Drinking water. It’s an unforgettable trip and Group ride.

• From Karla Fata, Bhajya caves, Visapur fort. Lohagad.

• Mumbai to Lohagad = 114 km
