If you go through Fondaghat road, you can see the Sahyadri forest and two wildlife sanctuaries. 1) Dajipur Wildlife Sanctuary 2) Radhanagari Wildlife Sanctuary. So this route is full of lush green mountains, wonderful nature, dams, lakes, and wildlife.

फोंडा घाट हा कोकण आणि पश्चिम महाराष्ट्र यामधला दुवा आहे. तसेच हा घाट कणकवली आणि कोल्हापूर या दोन शहरांना जोडतो. फोंडाघाट रस्त्यावरून गेल्यास सह्याद्रीचे जंगल आणि दोन वन्यजीव अभयारण्य पाहता येतील. 1) दाजीपूर वन्यजीव अभयारण्य 2) राधानगरी वन्यजीव अभयारण्य. त्यामुळे हा मार्ग हिरवेगार पर्वत, अद्भुत निसर्ग, धरण, तलाव आणि वन्य प्राण्यांनी परिपूर्ण आहे.

Personal experience – स्वतःचा अनुभव

Phonda ghat or fonda Guat is part of Western Ghats, We visited this place while returning from Goa to Mumbai during our Gokarna bike ride. Me and my friend Sameer left Goa and reached Kankavali. We both were very expected to ride through fonda ghat. We decided to move alone to cover maximum location in minimum time.

फोंडा घाट हा पश्चिम घाटाचा एक भाग आहे, आम्ही आमच्या गोकर्ण बाईक राईड दरम्यान गोव्याहून मुंबईला परतताना या ठिकाणी भेट दिली होती. मी आणि माझा मित्र समीर गोव्याहून कणकवलीला पोहोचलो. आम्हा दोघांनाही फोंडा घाटातून मोटरसायकल चालवण्याची खूप इच्छा होती. कमीत कमी वेळेत जास्तीत जास्त लोकेशन कव्हर करण्यासाठी, आम्ही एक एकटे जाण्याचा निर्णय घेतला.

Shortly after leaving Kankavali, We turned right at Fonda Fata and set our GPS. So we went towards right way. According to GPS we are going through Devgad Nipani Highway. After crossing Fondaghat village, real fun and adventure started. This ghat was one of our favorite ghat. I have been wanting to go here for a long time. So we came here to see the natural beauty.

कणकवलीतून निघून थोड्याच वेळात आम्ही फोंडा फाटा येथे उजवीकडे वळलो आणि आमचा GPS सेट केला. त्यामुळे आम्ही योग्य मार्गाला लागलो. GPS नुसार आम्ही देवगड निपाणी महामार्गावरून जात आहोत. फोंडाघाट गाव ओलांडल्यावर खरी मजा आणि साहस सुरू झाले. हा घाट आमचा आवडता होता. खूप दिवसापासून येथे जाण्याची खूप इच्छा होती. म्हणून आम्ही येथील नैसर्गिक सौंदर्य बघायला आलो होतो.

Fonda Ghat was famous for very winding and it is a different thrill as soon as it starts. Fonda Ghat is a 13 to 15 km long ghat this road is very busy as it is one of the connected roads for the people coming from Kolhapur, Solapur, Pune, or Western Maharashtra Konkan and Goa. Alternate option of Gaganbawada Ghat route and Amboli Ghat route.

फोंडा घाट वळणा वळणासाठी प्रसिद्ध होता आणि तो सुरू होताच एक वेगळाच थरार सुरू झाला. फोंडा घाट हा 13 ते 15 किमी लांबीचा घाट आहे. या रस्त्याला फार महत्त्व आहे, कारण हा रस्ता कोल्हापूर, सोलापूर, पुणे किंवा पश्चिम महाराष्ट्र कोकण आणि गोव्यातून येणाऱ्या लोकांसाठी जोडलेल्या रस्त्यांपैकी एक आहे. गगनबावडा घाट आणि आंबोली घाट या घाटास पर्यायी मार्ग आहेत.

It was a lot of fun riding the bike. Each turn looked more beautiful. Riding the bike was not much of a hassle as the turn seemed so beautiful and adventurous. We happily climbed that ghat and enjoyed the natural scenery of every corner, this is the best road trip experience of my life.

बाईक चालवताना खूप मजा आली. प्रत्येक वळण अधिक सुंदर दिसत होते. बाईक चालवायला फारसा त्रास झाला नाही कारण ती वळण खूप सुंदर आणि साहसी वाटत होते. आम्ही आनंदाने तो घाट चढून गेलो आणि प्रत्येक कोपऱ्याचा नैसर्गिक देखाव्यांचा आनंद घेतला, माझ्या आयुष्यातील रोड ट्रिपचा हा सर्वोत्तम अनुभव आहे.

Konkan View Point is a point where you can see the whole Konkan at a glance. It is an evergreen forest and you can enjoy the green hills and peaks of different mountains at a glance. The nature of Konkan is amazing. And it was a wonderful pleasure to see him at one point.

Dajipur wildlife sanctuary –  दाजीपूर वन्यजीव अभयारण्य

Dajipur and Radhanagari are two wildlife sanctuaries in the same belt. If you are going through Fonda Ghat, these two sanctuaries are right on your way. If you are going to Kolhapur through Kankavali Sindhudurg, then first come Dajipur Wildlife Sanctuary and then Radhanagari Wildlife Sanctuary. If you are coming from Kolhapur, it will be the other way around.

Since it’s a evergreen forest, You can go anytime of the year but if you want a pleasant environment then you should visit just after the monsoon, August to February is a good time to visit.

  • Drive slowly in night and early morning if your passing through fonda ghat because many wild animals crossing the road in this time
  • Do not enter in forest with out informing a forest department or proper guide. Because their are some dangers areas and snakes so be careful.

  • If you want some superior option you can stay at Kolapur just 55 km away from the place.
