Vaitarna Dam is the main source of water for Mumbai. Its located between Mumbai and Nashik, Near Igatpuri hill station and falls in Nashik district,  this place is also a tourist destination due to Wide Dimensions and  surrounding nature. Some power projects have also been started by taking advantage of this water, which could benefit Mumbai and other cities Surrounding natural region attracts tourists, Its part of Maharashtra tourism.  

वैतरणा धरण हे मुंबईसाठी पाण्याचा मुख्य स्त्रोत आहे. हे मुंबई आणि नाशिक दरम्यान, इगतपुरी हिल स्टेशन जवळ आणि नाशिक जिल्ह्यात येते, हे ठिकाण विस्तीर्ण परिमाण आणि सभोवतालच्या निसर्गामुळे देखील एक पर्यटन स्थळ आहे. या पाण्याचा फायदा घेऊन काही ऊर्जा प्रकल्पही सुरू करण्यात आले आहेत, ज्याचा फायदा मुंबईसह इतर शहरांना होऊ शकतो, आजूबाजूचा नैसर्गिक प्रदेश पर्यटकांना आकर्षित करतो, हा महाराष्ट्र पर्यटनाचा भाग आहे.

Vaitarna Dam divided in two part 1) Upper Vaitarna 2) Middle Vaitarna by one small bridge named Ram-Setu bridge. Its also a picnic point for family  trip. This area developed by Maharashtra government while building this dam and named as Vaitarna Nagar. 

वैतरणा धरण दोन भागात विभागलेले १) वरचे वैतरणा २) मध्य वैतरणा एका छोट्या पुलाने राम-सेतू पूल. कौटुंबिक सहलीसाठी हा पिकनिक पॉइंट देखील आहे. हे धरण बांधताना महाराष्ट्र सरकारने या भागाचा विकास करून वैतरणा नगर असे नाव दिले.

I’m here again with yet another blog on Vaitarna Dam the best location and adventurous place near Jawhar for a fun ride and drive. नमस्कार,
जव्हारजवळील सर्वोत्तम ठिकाण आणि साहसी ठिकाण वैतरणा धरणावरील आणखी एक ब्लॉग घेऊन मी पुन्हा येथे आलो आहे. या ब्लॉगमध्ये मी मार्ग योजना, टिपा, करण्यासारख्या गोष्टी, कसे पोहोचायचे, जवळची ठिकाणे, इतर शहरांपासूनचे अंतर यासह माझा वैयक्तिक अनुभव शेअर करेन, त्यामुळे तुमच्या सहलीचे नियोजन करण्यासाठी प्रवास मार्गदर्शक म्हणून तुम्हाला मदत होईल.

Personal Expirience Travel Guide and bike ride

The Mumbai to Vaitarna Dam bike ride was a part of our Jawhar ride. We started the journey at one o’clock at night and reached Kasara Ghat at 3:30 am, After climbing Kasara Ghat we stopped for a while at Igatpuri where we had breakfast at 4:30 am. Because we wanted to see a very beautiful view, we spent some time in Igatpuri.

मुंबई ते वैतरणा डॅम बाईक राईड हा आमच्या जव्हार राईडचा एक भाग होता. रात्री एक वाजता आम्ही प्रवास सुरू केला आणि पहाटे 3:30 वाजता कसारा घाटावर पोहोचलो, कसारा घाट चढून आम्ही थोडावेळ इगतपुरी येथे थांबलो आणि पहाटे 4:30 वाजता नाश्ता केला. आम्हाला खूप सुंदर नजारा बघायचा होता म्हणून आम्ही काही वेळ इगतपुरीत घालवला.

It was six o’clock in the morning, After Ghoti data we took a left turn and moved towards Trimbakeshwar road. Since it was raining we didn’t take it out of our mobile from bags, instead we started asking local for directions dam and we come to know, it’s  eight to ten kilometers away. We saw many mountain tops and cascading waterfalls on the way.

सकाळचे सहा वाजले होते, घोटी डेटा नंतर आम्ही डावे वळण घेत त्र्यंबकेश्वर रस्त्याकडे निघालो. पाऊस पडत असल्याने आम्ही आमच्या बॅगमधून मोबाईल काढला नाही, त्याऐवजी आम्ही लोकलला धरणाचे दिशानिर्देश विचारू लागलो आणि आम्हाला कळले, ते आठ ते दहा किलोमीटर दूर आहे. वाटेत आम्ही अनेक पर्वतशिखर आणि धबधबे पाहिले.

This eight to ten-kilometer road was so beautiful and hilarious. Every hundred kilometers a new variety of beautiful replicas of nature were seen. Cloudy weather, Slow rain showers, Green dense forest. All of this was doubling the joy of our bike ride.

हा आठ-दहा किलोमीटरचा रस्ता खूप सुंदर आणि रमणीय होता. दर शंभर किलोमीटरवर निसर्गाच्या नवनवीन सुंदर प्रतिकृती पाहायला मिळाल्या. ढगाळ हवामान, मंद पावसाच्या सरी, हिरवे दाट जंगल. हे सर्व आमच्या बाईक राईडचा आनंद द्विगुणित करत होते.

The road is so beautiful thereof, We spent about an hour and a half for that fifteen minute distance because we stop at every point to capture Exquisite nature view.

रस्ता खूप सुंदर आहे, आम्ही त्या पंधरा मिनिटांच्या अंतरासाठी सुमारे दीड तास घालवला कारण आम्ही प्रत्येक पॉईंटवर थांबून निसर्गाचे सुंदर दृश्य टिपतो.

Vaitarna Dam view

Vaitarna Dam is very big and it has gates on many sides. We visited this gate at Avandi. These gates were closed as the dam was not filled due to low rainfall. The real fun was on the back of this dam gate.

वैतरणा धरण खूप मोठे असून त्याला अनेक बाजूंनी दरवाजे आहेत. आवंडी येथील या गेटला भेट दिली. कमी पावसामुळे धरण भरले नसल्याने हे दरवाजे बंद करण्यात आले होते. खरी मजा या धरणाच्या गेटच्या मागे होती.

We were not satisfied with the without water dam view so we started doing some search. A small road was going up from us We decided to go that route. After a short climb we reached near Vaitarna Hydroelectric Project

पाणी नसलेल्या धरणाच्या दृश्याने आम्ही समाधानी नव्हतो म्हणून आम्ही काही शोध सुरू केला. आमच्या वरून एक छोटासा रस्ता वर जात होता आम्ही त्या वाटेने जायचे ठरवले. थोड्या चढाईनंतर आम्ही वैतरणा जलविद्युत प्रकल्पाजवळ पोहोचलो

Vaitarna Hydroelectric Project

The water from the Vaitarna Dam is used to generate electricity for Mumbai and other cities. You can visit this project with prior permission.

वैतरणा धरणातील पाणी मुंबई आणि इतर शहरांसाठी वीज निर्मितीसाठी वापरले जाते. तुम्ही पूर्वपरवानगी घेऊन या प्रकल्पाला भेट देऊ शकता.

After seeing it, we saw a road on the right side, We started moving towards that road in an attempt to find something new. In a short time, our efforts were successful.

बघितल्यावर उजव्या बाजूला एक रस्ता दिसला, काहीतरी नवीन शोधण्याच्या प्रयत्नात आम्ही त्या रस्त्याकडे जाऊ लागलो. अल्पावधीतच आमच्या प्रयत्नांना यश आले.

A very beautiful terrain was in front of me, with Extensive water reserves scattered around. The separate hills between them and the various colorful grasses that grew on it. A beautiful white band caused by sunrise just Like a painter has put a beautiful picture in front of me.

माझ्यासमोर एक अतिशय सुंदर भूभाग होता, आजूबाजूला विस्तीर्ण पाण्याचे साठे पसरलेले होते. त्यांच्या मधले वेगळे डोंगर आणि त्यावर उगवलेले विविध रंगीबेरंगी गवत. एखाद्या चित्रकाराने जसं एक सुंदर चित्र माझ्यासमोर ठेवलं आहे तसं सूर्योदयामुळे झालेली एक सुंदर पांढरी पट्टी.

From there we saw some bikes parked in the middle which was surrounded by full terrain and water. We decided to have fun of off-road ride.

तिथून आम्हाला मध्यभागी काही बाईक्स उभ्या असलेल्या दिसल्या ज्या पूर्ण भूभागाने आणि पाण्याने वेढलेल्या होत्या. आम्ही ऑफ-रोड राईडची मजा घेण्याचे ठरवले.

After passing Igatpuri, there is a small road on the left side at Ghoti phata. So we took left turn reached on Trimbakeshwar road.

इगतपुरी गेल्यावर घोटी फाट्यावर डावीकडे एक छोटासा रस्ता लागतो. म्हणून डावीकडे वळण घेत त्र्यंबकेश्वर रस्त्यावर पोहोचलो.

Tips and things to do in Vaitarna Dam

• Camping near Vaitarna Dam
• Vaitarna Dam is a beautiful place, so many people enjoyed Camping near this dam
• Vaitarna Dam’s backwater reserve location is a bit on the inside, not easily seen from the street. So it’s good to keep asking locally.
• You can visit Hydrochloric Project with With prior permission.
• It is better to go early in the morning or in the evening so you can able to view it very beautifully at this time
• Accommodation and Stay 
• There are hotel, Resorts, Farm houses and camping site available nearby, Even you can choose to Igatpuri or Jawhar hill station to stay.

Food Court & Hotels

Food facility provided by local people, I suggest that finish your break fast in Igatpuri or carry some food with you it will help you to manage your time and hunger.

Best time to visit

Beast time to visit is Monsoon and winter and for Camping is Summer and winter. Second week of August to March – April.
