The word “camping” sounds like an adventure to people like us. Because those moments spent in the company of nature give some unforgettable joy. We are exploring various such camping places. This time we will visit Igatpuri camping site. This is our favorite place to camp not in any organized camping place but it based on best place to camp is nature. This place is near Igatpuri Trumbakeshwar road and this area is surrounded by many big dams. In this post we will share our personal experience and some travel tips. It will be used as a travel guide.

कॅम्पिंग हा शब्द ऐकला तरी आमच्यासारख्या एडवेंचर फ्रेंडली माणसांचे अगदी कान टवकारतात. कारण निसर्गाच्या सानिध्यात घालवलेले ते क्षण काहीसा अविस्मरणीय आनंद देऊन जातात. अशा विविध कॅम्पिंग स्थळांचा आम्ही शोध घेत असतो. यावेळी आपण इगतपूरी कॅम्पिंग स्थळाला भेट देऊ. हे कोणत्याही ऑर्गनाइज कँपिंग स्थळ नाही. जिथे निसर्ग तिथे कॅम्पिंग या आमच्या आवडीनुसार केलेला आहे. ही जागा इगतपुरी त्रंबकेश्वर या रस्ता नजीक असून हा परिसर बऱ्याच मोठ्या धरणांनी वेढलेला आहे. या पोस्टमध्ये आम्ही आपणास आमचा वैयक्तिक अनुभव आणि काही ट्रॅव्हल टीप्स देणार आहोत. याचा वापर आपणास ट्रॅव्हल गाईड सारखा होईल.

Personal Experience

Earlier I had walked this route on my Vaitarna Dam bike. At that time we liked some places very much. One of them is near Vaitarna Hydroelectric Project. This time we left Mumbai at half past five as planned. This time we were in the mood for full camping so we packed breakfast at home. These included my favorite whipped cream and coconut chutney. We took Maggie to make it there.

यापूर्वी मी माझ्या वैतरणा डॅम या बाइक दरम्यान मी या मार्गावरून गेलो होतो. त्यावेळी काही ठिकाणे आम्हाला फार आवडली होती.  त्यापैकी एक म्हणजे वैतरणा जलविद्युत प्रकल्प जवळील ठिकाण. यावेळी ठरल्याप्रमाणे सहा साडेसहाच्या दरम्यान आम्ही मुंबई वरून निघालो. यावेळी आम्ही पुर्ण कॅम्पिंग च्या मूडमध्ये असल्यामुळे नाश्त्याचे पदार्थ हे घरातूनच भरून घेऊन गेलो. ज्यामध्ये मला आवडणारे घावणे आणि खोबऱ्याची चटणी याचा समावेश होता. सोबत तेथे बनवण्यासाठी आम्ही मॅगी घेतली होती.

We reached Igatpuri from Mumbai-Agra road. At some distance Ghoti fork turns to the left and we turn towards Trambakeshwar Road. The distance after Ghoti is about eighteen kilometers. We get there in no time. The surrounding forests provide shade. The panoramic view of the lake  in front of you was breathtaking.

आम्ही मुंबई आग्रा रस्त्यावरून इगतपुरी पर्यंत पोहोचलो. काही अंतरावर घोटी फाटा लागतो तिथून डाव्या बाजूला वळून आम्ही त्रंबकेश्वर रोड च्या दिशेने आमची गाडी वळवली. घोटी नंतर हे अंतर साधारण पुढे अठरा किलोमीटर एवढे आहे. अगदी काही वेळातच आम्ही तिथे पोहोचतो. आजूबाजूला असलेली वनराई त्यामुळे निर्माण झालेली सावली. समोरच असलेले तलावाचे विहंगम दृश्य डोळ्यांना अगदी आल्हाददायक वाटत होते.

We chose a place there and set up our tent. And started walking towards the water in front of us. The place has been strengthened by throwing large stones on the side of the lake. So it seemed a little difficult to walk there. The endless reservoir in front of it looked like a sea. The accompanying bush went forward and turned to one side. That scene seemed to be useful even for a scene in a movie

तिथे एक जागा निवडून आम्ही आमचा तंबू सेट केला. आणि समोर दिसणाऱ्या पाण्याच्या दिशेने चालू लागलो. तलावाच्या बाजूला मोठमोठाले दगड टाकून जागेचे मजबुतीकरण करण्यात आले आहे. त्यामुळे तेथे चालणे थोडेसे कठीण वाटत होते. समोरच अथांग असा जलसाठा जळू समुद्रा सारखंच वाटतं होता. त्यासोबत असणारी झाडी पुढे जाऊन एका बाजूला वळली होती. ते दृश्य अगदी सिनेमातील एखादा सीन साठी उपयुक्त असं वाटत होतं.

I was very hungry because I left early in the morning. So how about the breakfast we brought with us in just a few minutes. The gusts of wind from the front were fragrant. After some time we went to the tent and rested for a while. Nearby, another large family was seen coming for a picnic. He prepared the meal there. From a distance, they looked like a family together. About twenty to twenty-five people were enjoying the trip

सकाळी लवकर निघाल्यामुळे भूक खूप लागली होती. त्यामुळे सोबत आणलेल्या न्याहारीचा आम्ही काही मिनिटातच कशा पडला. समोरून येणारा झुळझुळ वारा आल्हाददायक वाटत होता. काही काळाने तंबूत जाऊन थोडी विश्रांती केली. तिथेच जवळ अजून एक मोठं कुटुंब वनभोजनासाठी आलेले दिसले. त्याने जेवणाची पुर्ण तयारी तेथेच केली दुरून पाहता ते एकत्र कुटुंब दिसत होते. साधारणपणे वीस ते पंचवीस माणसं त्या सहलीचा मनमुराद आनंद घेत होते.

After some time we started playing badminton with us. That’s how we spent a lot of time there. After a while, some people from the Forest Department came and met us. They told us that this part is a restricted area. So you have to go to the front of the bridge. We packed as he told us and proceeded immediately.

काही वेळानंतर आम्ही सोबत आणलेल्या बॅडमिंटन ने खेळू लागलो. असं प्रकारे बराच वेळ आम्ही तिथे व्यतीत केला थोड्या वेळाने  काही फॉरेस्ट डिपार्टमेंटची माणसे आम्हाला येऊन भेटली. त्यांनी आम्हाला सांगितले की हा भाग प्रतिबंधित क्षेत्र आहे. त्यामुळे तुम्हाला पुलाच्या पुढच्या बाजूस जावे लागेल. आम्ही त्याने सांगितल्याप्रमाणे पॅकिंग करून लगेच पुढे निघालो.

New place for camping – Travel Guide

After crossing the bridge we started looking for a new place to camp. After walking 1 km, we found Chi’s place on the left side. Offroading had to be done as it was a little inland from the road. After about five hundred meters we reached the plateau. To the left and right were the fields of tomatoes and other vegetables grown by the farmers.

पुल पार केल्यानंतर आम्ही कॅम्पिंग साठी नवीन जागा शोधू लागलो. अगदी 1 किलोमीटर चालल्यानंतर डाव्या बाजूस आम्हाला ची जागा सापडली. रस्त्यापासून थोड्या आतल्या बाजूस असल्यामुळे ऑफरोडींग करावे लागल. एक पाचशे मीटर आत गेल्यानंतर पठारावर आम्ही पोचलो. डाव्या आणि उजव्या बाजूला शेतकऱ्याने फुलवलेले टोमॅटो आणि इतर भाजीपाल्याची मळे दिसत होते.

Natural unknown sun set point – Near Igatpuri – Travel Guide

We set up our tent on that plateau. The place was so scenic that all the surrounding mountain ranges contained a vast reservoir within it. After a while we realized that we had unknowingly reached a natural unknown sun set point. Collecting some dry wood nearby, we made a three stone stove and cooked Maggie on it. In such a scenic environment, we enjoyed eating hot Maggie.

त्या पठारावर आम्ही आमचा तंबू पुन्हा सेट केला. ही जागा एवढी निसर्गरम्य होती की आजूबाजूला सर्व डोंगर माळ त्यामध्येच असलेला विस्तीर्ण असा जलाशय. आम्ही नकळत एका नैसर्गिक सन सेट पॉईंट वर पोहोचलो होतो हे काही वेळाने लक्षात आले. तिथे जवळचे थोडी सुकी लाकडे गोळा करून आम्ही तीन दगडाची चूल बनवली आणि त्यावर मॅगी शिजवली. अशा निसर्गरम्य वातावरणात आम्ही गरम गरम मॅगी खाण्याचा मनमुराद आनंद लुटला.

Double confluence of camping and picnic

The reservoir was brightened as the reflection was seen in the front reservoir as the sun was now setting. We could see many colors scattered by nature in that water. So our photo session started. We captured different poses in our camera for photos and DP. After that we tied up and started the return journey. But the legs did not move. Once again, we visited the vast reservoir.

सूर्य आता मावळतीला निघाला होता तसे प्रतिबिंब समोरच्या जलाशयात दिसत असल्यामुळे जलाशय तेजोमय झाला होता. निसर्गाने उधळलेले कित्येक रंग आम्हाला त्या पाण्यात दिसत होते. मग काय आमचा फोटोसेशन सुरू झालं. वेगळ्या पोझेस आम्ही फोटो आणि डीपी साठी आमच्या कॅमेऱ्यात कैद केल्या. त्यानंतर आम्ही बांधाबांध करून परतीचा प्रवास सुरू केला. पण पाय काही तिथून निघत नव्हते. पुढे आल्यानंतर पुन्हा एकदा त्या विस्तीर्ण जलाशय असे आम्ही दर्शन घेतले.

Thus, our trip, which was a double confluence of camping and picnic, started on the return journey. Igatpuri Kasara Ghat got full traffic. We reached Mumbai in about three hours.

अशाप्रकारे कॅम्पिंग आणि वनभोजनाचा दुहेरी संगम असलेला आमची ही ट्रीप परतीच्या प्रवासाला निघाली. इगतपुरी कसारा घाट या दरम्यान पूर्ण ट्रॅफिक मिळाले. साधारणपणे तीन तासात आम्ही मुंबईला पोहोचलो.

• There are lots of scenic views and space for camping
• You can enjoy, organized camping setup, or you I set up your tent.
• Be ready with basic camping equipment
• Many places near the lake are under the surveillance of the forest department so take prior permission for camping.
• Lake is a very deep and uneven surface so be safe.
• The best place for monsoon trips and winter is the right time for camping.
• Limited hotels or food facilities are available here so better you carry your meals from home or make it.
