Information about Shri Kshetra KURAVPUR travel guide

The first human incarnation of Dattatreya was Shripad Srivallabh, whose tapobhumim is Kurvapur. It is a small village situated on an island on the banks of river Krishna. You may have seen in Datta Sampradaya that the main places of Dattatreya are on the banks of Krishnamai. Kurwapur is a district in the Indian state of Karnataka.

दत्तात्रेयांचा पहिला मानवी अवतार श्रीपाद श्रीवल्लभ, यांची तपोभूमीम्हणजेच कुरवापुर. कृष्णा नदीच्या काठावर एका बेटावर वसलेले हे छोटेसे गाव. दत्तसंप्रदायात आपण पाहिलं असेल  दत्तात्रेयांचे प्रमुख स्थाने ही कृष्णामाईच्या तटावर आहे. कुरवापुर हे क्षेत्र जिल्हा रायचूर, या भारतातील कर्नाटक राज्यामध्ये येते. या गावाला कुरकुंडी असंही म्हटलं जातं.

Shripad Srivallabh was born in Pithapur, he chose Kuravpur for further penance. And this is where he ended his incarnation in the company of Krishnamai. This place was discovered by Vasudevanand Saraswati himself during his tenure. Therefore, this land has gained the importance of Tapobhoomi. A place detached from Vardali is a very important place spiritually.

श्रीपाद श्रीवल्लभ यांचा जन्म पिठापूर येथे झाला, पुढे तपश्चर्येसाठी त्यांनी कुरवपूर हे स्थान निवडले. आणि पुढे इथेच कृष्णामाईच्या सानिध्यात आपली अवतार समाप्ती केली. या ठिकाणाचा शोध स्वतः वासुदेवानंद सरस्वती यांनी आपल्या कार्यकाळात केला. त्यामुळे या भूमीला तपोभूमि चे महत्व प्राप्त झाले आहे. वरदळी पासून अलिप्त असे ठिकाण एक अध्यात्मिक दृष्ट्या फार महत्वाचे ठिकाण आहे.

Boating facility at Shri Kshetra Kuravpur travel guide

As Kurvapur is an island, one has to use waterways to reach here. For this, local boat service has been started. In the early days there were small round boats in the shape of a basket made of bamboo. Motor boats have also been introduced here for deeper water and safety of passengers. The facility of such boats is running continuously at Kuravpur. During this journey you will cross the river Krishna. which is very scenic. The boatmen charge around Rs. 50 per person for crossing the river.

कुरवापुर हे बेट असल्यामुळे येथे जाण्यासाठी जल मार्गाचा वापर करावा लागतो. यासाठी स्थानिक बोटीची सेवा सुरू केलेली आहे. सुरुवातीच्या काळात येथे बांबूने बनवलेली एक टोपली आकाराची छोटी गोलाकार नौका होत्या. अधिक खोल पाणी आणि यात्रेकरूंच्या सुरक्षिततेसाठी इथे मोटर बोट ही सुरू करण्यात आले आहेत. अशा प्रकारच्या बोटींचे फॅसिलिटी कुरवपूर येथे अविरत चालू आहे. हा प्रवास अगदी निसर्गरम्य अशा कृष्णमाई च्या पात्राने व्यापलेला आहे. नदी पार करण्यासाठी नावाडी साधारणपणे पन्नास रुपये प्रति व्यक्ती एवढे शुल्क घेतात.

After crossing the river, you can see the entrance of Shri Kshetra Kuravpur. We enter Kurvapur by climbing few steps.

There are mainly three temples worth visiting in Kurvapur कुरवापुर येथे पाहण्यासारखी मुख्यत्वेकरून तीन मंदिरे आहेत.

• Main temple मुख्य मंदिर
  • In the main temple there are padukas and full size idols of Shri Dattaguru. In addition, you can also be seen Dattaguru’s Palkhi.
  • मुख्य मंदिरामध्ये श्री दत्तगुरुंच्या पादुका तसेच पूर्णाकृती मूर्ती आहे. त्यासोबत आपण दत्तगुरूंच्या पालखीचे दर्शन घेऊ शकता
• Vatvriksha Mandir – वटवृक्ष मंदिर
  • After walking some time from the main temple, you can see a big big tree. At its base, a small temple of Dattaguru was built. Devotees have a quiet place here for Gurucharitra Parayan and other religious activities
  • मुख्य मंदिरापासून पुढे काही वेळ चालत गेल्यानंतर आपल्याला एक मोठा मोठा वृक्ष दिसतो त्याच्या पायथ्याशी दत्तगुरूंचे छोटे  मंदिर बांधले. येथे भक्तांना गुरुचरित्र पारायण आणि इतर धार्मिक कार्यांसाठी शांत अशी जागा उपलब्ध आहे.
• Cave of Vasudevanand Saraswati – वासुदेवानंद सरस्वती यांचे गुफा
  • There is a small cave inside which is small and serpentine in shape. At this place Vasudevananda Saraswati performed penance and rituals. You just have to be more discriminating with the help you render toward other people. It also means that we give up our greatness and follow in the footsteps of Shri Swami.
  • लहान आणि सर्पाकृती आकारात आत जाणारी अशी छोटेखानी गुहा इथे आहे. या ठिकाणी वासुदेवानंद सरस्वती यांनी तपस्या आणि अनुष्ठाने केली. येथे जाण्यासाठी आपणास अगदी लहान मुलासारखे रांगत जावे लागते. याचा एक अर्थ असाही आहे की आपले मोठेपण सोडून आपण श्रींच्या चरणी लीन होतो.

Men have to wear special clothes to enter the main temple. The clothes required for this are available free of cost outside the temple. Due to which our sattvic mood is created and the mind is concentrated

मुख्य मंदिरामध्ये प्रवेश करण्यासाठी पुरुषांना विशिष्ट असे वस्त्र (सोवळे) परिधान करावे लागते. त्यासाठी आवश्यक असणारी वस्त्र ही मंदिराच्या बाहेरच अगदी मोफत मिळतात. ज्या मुळे आपला सात्विक भाव निर्माण होतो आणि चित्त एकाग्र होते

वटवृक्षाला मूळ पुरुष असे म्हटले जाते. जवळपास अमरत्व प्राप्त झालेला हा वटवृक्ष, कुरवापुर या पुण्यभूमी च्या अध्यात्मिक इतिहासाचा प्रत्यक्ष साक्षीदार आहे. या वटवृक्षाच्या छायेखाली अनेक भक्तगण आपल्या उपासना करत असतात. प्रत्यक्ष वासुदेवानंद सरस्वती यांनी येथेच चतुर्मास आणि इतर अनुष्ठाने केली.

• Temple timing 5 am to 12 pm and 4 to 7:30, 7:30 to 8:30 Palkhi Ceremony temple closed at 9:00 pm
• Abhishek Pooja is performed till 10 o’clock in the morning
• Palkhi ceremony timing evening between 7.30 pm and 8.30 pm
• Special Dress code is compulsory to enter in main temple
• Fifty rupees each costs one side to travel by boat
• Meals can be arranged by the temple priests
• The Vatvriksha temple is a great place for Parayan and others Pooja vidhi.
