Information about Bhatsa Dam भातसा धरण

Bhatsa Dam is one of the major dams in Maharashtra. Mumbai’s water is mainly stored through this dam. The hydropower project is also operational here. The project was set up at Sajwadi village in Shahapur taluka of Maharashtra Thane district. Bhatsa Dam is a project built on the confluence of Bhatsa and Torna rivers. Some of the surrounding area is a forest reserve.

भातसा धरण हे महाराष्ट्रातील प्रमुख धरणांपैकी एक आहे. मुख्यत्वेकरून मुंबईचा पाणीसाठा या धरणातून केला जातो. येथे जलविद्युत प्रकल्प ही कार्यान्वित आहे. महाराष्ट्र ठाणे जिल्ह्यात, महाराष्ट्र ठाणे जिल्ह्यात शहापूर तालुक्यातील साजवडी या गावी या प्रकल्पाची उभारणी करण्यात आली. भातसा धरण हा प्रकल्प भातसा आणी तोरणा या नद्यांच्या संगमावर बांधण्यात आला आहे. येथील सभोवतालचा काही भाग हा राखीव वनक्षेत्र आहे.

Personal Experience

Bhatsa Dam and its surroundings are a great place for a short road trip from Mumbai. So I planned my solo bike ride here. I travel to any place to experience the true nature of the trip and nature. For that, I started my journey at night. So I reached the dam area in early morning.

भातसा धरण आणी परिसर हा मुंबई पासून अगदी जवळच्या रोड ट्रीप साठी एक उत्तम ठिकाण आहे. त्यामुळे मी येथे माझी solo bike ride प्लॅन केली. ट्रीप आणी निसर्गाचा खरा अनुभव घेण्यासाठी मी कोणत्याही ठिकाणी भल्या पहाटे पोहोचायला आवडते. आणी त्यासाठी मी माझा प्रवास रात्रीच सुरू केला. त्यामुळे सकाळी पाच च्या दरम्यान मी धरण परिसरात पोहोचलो.

The beauty of the surrounding nature is unparalleled as Bhatsa Dam is a reserve forest. Which seems to be more open on rainy days. I was lucky enough to see the sunrise here, because I had come here from Mumbai at night to see it. Spacious area with golden rays of the sun and cool weather in the morning. Everything was captivating and fragrant

भातसा डॅम हे राखीव वनक्षेत्रात मोडत असल्यामुळे सभोवतालचा निसर्गाचे सौंदर्य हे अप्रतिम आहे. जे पावसाच्या दिवसात अधिकच खुलून दिसते. येथील सूर्योदय पाहण्याचे भाग्य मला लाभले किंबहुना तेच पाहण्यासाठी मी रात्रीच मुंबईहुन येथे आलो होतो. विस्तीर्ण असा परिसर त्यात सूर्याची सोनेरी किरणे आणी पहाटेच थंडगार वातावरण. सर्वकाही मनमोहक आणी आल्हाददायक होते.

After reaching the Bhatsa dam area, I first went to the top of the dam. This section is slightly elevated and there is a small road to get there. The road was badly damaged in many places, which led to a bit of off-roading experience. As you walk along this road, you can see the dense forest all around. The water of the dam flowing through it and its sound was thrilling the atmosphere.

भातसा धरणक्षेत्रात पोहोचल्या नंतर प्रथम मी धरणाच्या माथ्यावर गेलो. हा भाग थोडा उंचावर असून तेथे जाण्यासाठी एक छोटा रस्ता आहे. रस्ता बरेच जागी खराब झाल्याने थोडा ऑफरोडिंगचा अनुभव घेता आला. या रस्त्यावरून जात असता सभोवताली घनदाट जंगल पाहावयास मिळते. त्यातून वहाणारे धरणाचे पाणी आणी त्याचा आवाज वातावरण रोमांचित करत होता.

Access is restricted to Bhatsa Dam. I visit the manager there and ask him questions. It was understood that the best view place is Government Rest House located at hilltop near Bhatsa Dam. Bhatsa Dam has two major canals. From which excess water can be conveyed to the surrounding area.

भातसा धरणावर कोणत्याही व्यक्तीला किंवा पर्यटकांना येण्यास बंदी होती. मी तेथील व्यवस्थापकास भेट दिली आणी त्यांच्या कडे विचारपूस करता. या धरणाचे संपूर्ण दर्शन हे जवळील शासकीय विश्रामगृह येथे घडू शकेल असे समजले. भातसा धरणाला दोन प्रमुख कालवे आहेत. जेथून अतिरिक्त पाणी सभोवतालच्या परिसरात पोहोचवता येते.

There is a bridge at the foot of Bhatsa dam. From one side you can see the dam. The water flowing through it and the resulting greenery around it is very beautiful. Under the bridge, this Bhatsa river with its water is ready for the next journey .

भातसा धरणाच्या पायथ्याशी एक पूल आहे. जेथून एका बाजूस आपणास धरणाचे दर्शन होते. त्यातून वहाणारे पाणी आणी त्यामुळे झालेला सभोवतालचा हिरवागार परिसर फारच नयनरम्य आहे. पुलाच्या खालून ही भातसा नदी आपल्या पाण्यासोबत पुढील प्रवासासाठी सिद्ध होते.

Datta Temple Near bhatsa dam

There is a beautiful Datta temple just five minutes away from the dam. Exquisite color scheme, attractive architectural design and the surrounding nature make this small temple stand out. Seeing the idol of Lord Datta in the temple gives a different spiritual satisfaction.

धरणा पासून अगदी पाच मिनिटाच्या अंतरावर सुंदर असे दत्त मंदिर आहे. उत्तम अशी रंग संगती, आकर्षक वास्तू रचना आणी सभोवतालचा निसर्ग यामुळे हे छोटेखानी मंदिर अगदी उठून दिसते. मंदिरातील दत्त प्रभूंची मूर्ती पाहता एक वेगळे आध्यात्मिक समाधान लाभते.

Government resthouse at Bhatsa Dam – Travel guide

This government rest house is built on a high hill near Bhatsa dam. You can easily see the dam and its vast water reservoir and its surroundings. A nice garden with its lush green grass looks very beautiful. Accommodation is provided here but only for government employees. The best view of Bhatsa Dam can be seen here.

भातसा धरणाजवळ एका उंच टेकडीवर हे शासकीय विश्रामगृह उभारले गेले आहे. येथून धरण तसेच आणी त्याचा विस्तीर्ण पाणी साठा व  सभोवतालचा परिसर सहज दृष्टीस येतो. उत्तम असे उद्यान त्यातील हिरवीगार गवत, मधेच बनवलेली बैठक व्यवस्था मनमोहक वाटते. येथे राहण्याची ही सोय करण्यात येते पण ती फक्तं शासकीय कर्मचाऱ्यांसाठी. भातसा धरणाचा सर्वोत्तम दृश्य येथे पाहावयास मिळते

• Government resthouse is a best view point of Bhatsa Dam
• Entry is prohibited at water reservoir.
• Visit this place in early morning or evening for best images
• Best time to visit is monsoon and winters
• In monsoon river flow with full speed so becarful.
• Donot cross bridge if water flow above the bridge
• Camping is possible but you have to take prior Permission
• Bhatsa dam Enterence is opposite side of Mumbai Nashik road
• Accommodation: –

  • Resorts and Hotels are available near Mumbai Ahara highway
• Food facilities : – Small hotels are available but we suggest to carry your own food.
