Personal Experience

We had visited Ramtirtha during our Amboli trip. It is located at a distance of 30 km from Amboli to Ajra, a taluka in Kolhapur district. Ramtirtha is just 2 km away from here.

आम्ही आमच्या आंबोली सहली दरम्यान रामतीर्थ या ठिकाणाला भेट दिली होती. आंबोली ते आजरा हे 30 km अंतरावर असून ते एक कोल्हापूर जिल्ह्यातील तालुक्याचे ठिकाण आहे. येथून रामतीर्थ अवघ्या 2 km अंतरावर आहे.

The river Hiranyakeshi originates at Amboli and after crossing a distance of 30 km to Ajra takes the form of a wide leaf. As it is a perennial river, the surrounding area is rich in green grass and lush green nature.

हिरण्यकेशी नदी आंबोली येथे उगम पावते आणी तब्बल 30 km अंतर पार करून आजरा येथे येते एका विस्तीर्ण पत्राचे रूप घेते. मुख्यत्वे करून ही बारमाही नदी असल्या मुळे सभोवतालचा परिसर हरित तृण आणी हिरव्यागार निसर्गाने बहरलेला असतो.

The first legend is that Lord Ramachandra visited this place during his exile. This is where they lived. This is what is said about this waterfall. That no matter how much the river floods, the water of the river does not exceed its limits as soon as it reaches the steps of the neighboring Ram temple. This is a supernatural surprise.

पाहिली आख्यायिका प्रभू रामचंद्र यांनी, त्यांच्या वनवासा दरम्यान या ठिकाणी भेट दिली होती. या ठिकाणी त्यांनी वास्तव्य ही केले होते. या धबधब्याच्या बाबत असे सांगितले जाते. की नदीला कितीही पूर आला तरीही नदी चे पाणी शेजारी असलेल्या राममंदिराच्या पायरीस लागताच आपली मर्यादा ओलांडत नाही. हे एक अलौकिक आश्चर्य आहे.

According to another legend, there is a Shiva temple near Ramtirtha. The stone idol of Nandi here is growing somewhat every year. Some of the villagers here believe that one day this Nandi will stand in its original form and it will be the beginning of a new era.

Adjacent to Ramtirtha Falls is the temple of Lord Ramchandra. Upon entering the temple, there is a large idol of Ram devotee Maruti. In the front yard, Lord Ramachandra is standing with Laxman and Goddess Sita. Mother Jagdamba is sitting next to him. Along with it are idols of other gods and goddesses. It is also said that there is a whirlpool in the water below the waterfall. In which many lives have been lost. So a cement bridge has been built to view the waterfall from which a breathtaking view of the waterfall can be seen.

रामतीर्थ हा धबधबा दिसायला जरी लहान असला तरी पावसात तो अक्राळविक्राळ रूप धारण करतो. त्यामुळे येथे आंघोळ करण्यास मनाई असते. असेही सांगितले जाते की धबधब्याच्या खालील बाजूस पाण्यात भोवरा आहे. ज्यामध्ये बरीच जिवितहानी झाली आहे. त्यामुळे हा धबधबा पाहण्यासाठी एक सिमेंट चा पूल बांधण्यात आला आहे जेथून धबधब्याचे विलोभनीय दृश्य पाहता येते.

Here the river Hiranyakeshi is divided into two parts. One before the waterfall and one after the waterfall. The eastern part of the waterfall is a bit shallow. So you can enjoy water sports during low rainfall or other times. We experienced it. The latter part of the waterfall, however, can be deeper and more dangerous. So it would be better to just enjoy the scenic beauty here. To be clear, this waterfall is not suitable for soaking. For that it would be worth visiting Amboli or any other nearby waterfall.

येथे हिरण्यकेशी नदीचे दोन भाग पाडतात. एक धबधब्याच्या पूर्वीचा आणी एक धबधब्याच्या नंतरचा. धबधब्याच्या पूर्वीचा भाग थोडा उथळ आहे. त्यामुळे कमी पावसाच्या अथवा इतर वेळी जलक्रीडेचा आनंद घेता येतो. आम्ही ही तो अनुभवला. धबधब्याच्या नंतरचा भाग हा मात्र अधिक खोल आणी घातक ठरू शकतो. त्यामुळे केवळ येथील निसर्गरम्य सौंदर्याचा आनंद घेणे हेच योग्य ठरेल. स्पष्ट सांगायचे झाले तर चिंब भिजण्यासाठी हा धबधबा योग्य नाही. त्या साठी आंबोली किंवा जवळपासच्या इतर धबधब्याला भेट देणे योग्य राहील.

Shiva Temple at Ramtirtha

There is a Shiva temple in the road of Ramtirtha waterfall. Here is a black stone idol of Lord Shiva. Also the specialty of this is that the stone idol of Nandi here is huge. I had seen such an idol only in the place of Jyotirlinga. The legend of this idol I have mentioned above.

रामतीर्थ धबधब्याच्या रस्त्यामध्ये एक शिव मंदिर येते. येथे भगवान शिव शंकराची काळ्या पाषाणाची मूर्ती आहे. तसेच याची खासियत अशी की येथील नंदिची पाषाण मूर्ती ही प्रचंड मोठी आहे. अशी मूर्ती मी केवळ ज्योतिर्लिगाच्या ठिकाणी पहिली होती. या मूर्तीची आख्यायिका मी वरील भागात नमूद केली आहे.
