3 names of one fort, Different name is belongs to different owners, 1) Bankot fort was Named by Aadil Shahi Empire 2) Himmatgad fort was named by Maratha’s 3) Victoria fort was named by British. Ownership of this fort help r uler to keep watch on Arabian sea and Savitri river, which also increased their revenue as formation of tax to merchant for their shipments.

Personal Experience

We love camping so it helps us to be with nature. Our camping experience today is different from our previous camping experience. The reason behind it was the location of the fort. Great view of the Arabian Sea from the fort. The cool breeze from the sea. The distinct sound of the wind. It was a wonderful experience. Absolutely unforgettable!

आम्हाला कॅम्पिंग फार आवडते ते आम्हाला निसर्गा सोबत राहण्यास मदत करते. आजचा आमचा कॅम्पिंग चा अनुभव आमच्या मागील कॅम्पिंग अनुभवापेक्षा वेगळा आहे. त्यामागचे कारण होते किल्ल्याचे स्थान. किल्ल्यावरून दिसणारे अरबी समुद्राचे मोठे दृश्य. समुद्रावरून येणारा थंडगार वारा. वाऱ्याचे येणारे वेगळे आवाज. हा एक विलक्षण रोमांचकारी अनुभव होता. अगदी अविस्मरणीय!

During our Dapoli bike ride, we went to this place, my friend Sameer and I left Mumbai towards Dapoli. We covered many places in Dapoli and on our way back we decided to take the ferry via Harihareshwar. Bankot fort is located on Dapoli-Harihareshwar road. The condition of the roads is a bit bad. Our riding skills came in handy here. This situation is great for offroading to improve riding skills. About half past five we reached near Bankot fort.

आम्ही आमच्या दापोली बाईक राईड दरम्यान, या ठिकाणी भेट दिली होती, मी आणि माझा मित्र समीर मुंबईहून दापोलीच्या दिशेने निघालो. आम्ही दापोलीतील अनेक ठिकाणे कव्हर करून परत येताना हरिहरेश्वर मार्गे फेरीबोट मार्गे पुढे जाण्याचे ठरले. दापोली – हरिहरेश्वर मार्गावर बाणकोट किल्ला आहे. रस्त्यांची स्थिती ही थोडी बेताचीच आहे. आमच्या रायडिंग चे कौशल्य येथे कामी आले. राइडिंग कौशल्य सुधारण्यासाठी ऑफरोडिंग साठी ही परिस्थिती उत्तम आहे. अंदाजे साडेपाच वाजता बाणकोट किल्ल्या जवळ आम्ही पोहोचलो.

We saw some people near the fort. They were volunteers, we asked them about their event and their work. The spokesman of the group gave us a brief description of their work. They started their group to maintain and restore fort construction and the overall environment. That day they put a dummy model of artillery in the top of the fort. Which improves fort look. They also make many small groups, who monitor and take action against the misbehavior of people at fort area to maintain dignity at the fort. We request them to allow us to do camping at the fort. After a discussion they know about our intention and our passion, they allow us for the same.

आम्ही किल्ल्याजवळ पोहोचताच आम्हास काही लोक मराठमोळ्या वेषात दिसले. ते स्वयंसेवक होते, आम्ही त्यांना त्यांच्या कार्यक्रमाबद्दल आणि त्यांच्या कामाबद्दल विचारले. ते सह्याद्री प्रतिष्ठान हिंदुस्थान या संस्थेचे कार्यकर्ते होते. (घेतला वसा दुर्गसंवर्धन चळवळीचा) ही टॅग लाइन होती.

गटाचे प्रवक्ते श्री योगेश निवाते यांनी आम्हाला त्यांच्या कार्याची थोडक्यात माहिती करून दिली. किल्ले बांधणी आणि एकूणच सभोवतालच्या परिसराची देखभाल आणि पुनर्संचयित करण्यासाठी त्यांनी त्यांचा गट सुरू केला आहे. त्या दिवशी त्यांनी किल्ल्याच्या माथ्यावर तोफखान्याचे डमी मॉडेल ठेवले. ज्यामुळे किल्ल्याचा देखावा अधिक सुंदर आणी इतिहासातील गतवैभव मिळवून देणारा वाटला.

त्यांनी अशाप्रकारचे अनेक छोटे गट बनवले होते, जे किल्ल्यावरील प्रतिष्ठा राखण्यासाठी किल्ल्यावरील लोकांच्या गैरवर्तनावर लक्ष ठेवतात आणि त्यांच्यावर कारवाई करतात. आम्ही त्यांना विनंती केली की आम्हाला गडावर कॅम्पिंग करायला परवानगी द्यावी. चर्चेनंतर त्यांना आमचा हेतू आणि आमची आवड याबद्दल समजले, त्यामुळे त्यांनी आम्हाला तशी परवानगी दिली.

We entered the fort from main gate and select the best place for camping on the top of the fort. From this location, we able to saw the entire sea and surrounding areas. After seeing this we realized that why this fort was important. We set our tent and bring our all bags inside the tent. Due to busy schedule of our ride we both filling tired so we take rest to recover ourselves. We fill cool air coming from sea. It’s a wonderful unforgettable experience.

आम्ही मुख्य दरवाजातून गडावर प्रवेश केला आणि गडाच्या माथ्यावर सर्वोत्तम जागा निवडली. या ठिकाणाहून आम्ही संपूर्ण समुद्र आणि आजूबाजूचा परिसर पाहू शकलो. हे पाहिल्यावर लक्षात आले की हा किल्ला का महत्वाचा आहे. आम्ही आमचा तंबू लावला आणि आमच्या सर्व बॅगा तंबूच्या आत आणल्या. आमच्या राइडच्या व्यस्त वेळापत्रकामुळे आम्ही दोघेही थकलो होतो म्हणून आम्ही स्वतःला सावरण्यासाठी विश्रांती घेतो. आम्ही समुद्रातून येणारी थंड हवा भरतो. तो एक अद्भुत अविस्मरणीय अनुभव आहे.

After taking rest we fill more fresh. We packed our bags and clean the surrounding area where we camped and move toward Mumbai. Via bankot – harihareshwar ferry service.
