Personal experience of Nallamala Forest road trip – Amrabad Tiger reserve
We traveled through Nallamala forest during our Mumbai Srisailam road trip. I did this journey of 55 kilometers twice in one day. At that time, the pleasure of the pre-planned trip was doubled. During this we saw many places on the road, one of them being the Amarabad Tiger Reserve. Access is allowed between 6:00 am to 9:00 pm as this is a dense forest road. This road is closed from 9:01 pm to 5:59 am due to high wildlife movement at night. So we entered here around 6:30 in the morning.
आम्ही आमच्या मुंबई श्रीशैलम रोड ट्रीप दरम्यान नल्लामाला या जंगलातून प्रवास केला होता. तब्बल 55 किलोमीटर चा हा प्रवास मी एकाच दिवसात दोनदा केला. त्यावेळी पूर्वनियोजित सहलीचा आनंद द्विगुणित झाला. या दरम्यान आम्ही रस्त्यामध्ये अनेक ठिकाणे पहिली त्यापैकी अमराबाद व्याघ्र प्रकल्प ही एक आहे. हा घनदाट जंगलातील रस्ता असल्यामुळे येथे सकाळी 6:00 am ते रात्री 9:00 pm दरम्यान प्रवेश दिला जातो. रात्री वन्यजीव यांचा वावर जास्त असल्याने हा रस्ता रात्री 9:01 pm ते सकाळी 5:59 am पर्यंत बंद असतो. त्यामुळे आम्ही पहाटे साडे – सहाच्या सुमारास येथे प्रवेश केला. त्यामुळे आम्हाला सुंदर असा सूर्योदय पाहावयास मिळाला.

What is a Tiger reserve
Tiger Reserve is an ambitious project of the Government of India. In which some of the total forests in India are reserved as tiger reserves. The main reason for which is the conservation and protection of the endangered Indian tigers and that too in close proximity to nature. More than 50 such tiger reserves have been established in India, one of which is Amarabad Tiger Reserve which is a part of Nallamala Forest.

Amarabad Tiger Reserve is the largest tiger reserve in India. The reason for this is the geographical location of Krishna river which is known as Patalganga here. Due to its vast character, the surrounding area is evergreen. Therefore, the Nallamala forest here has expanded to a good extent. Hence, the Nallamala forest here has expanded to a good extent in an area of 2500 square kilometers.
भारतातील सर्वात मोठया व्याघ्र प्रकल्पात अमराबाद व्याघ्र प्रकल्प याचे नाव येते. त्याचे कारण म्हणजे येथील भौगोलिक परिस्थिती कृष्णा नदी जी येथे पाताळगंगा म्हणुन ओळखली जाते. तिचे विस्तीर्ण पात्रं त्यामुळे येथील सभोवतालचा परिसर सदाहरित असतो. त्यामुळे येथील नल्लामाला जंगल चांगल्या प्रमाणात 2500 वर्ग किलोमीटर परिसरात विस्तारले आहे.
Artificial water bodies have been constructed in places to facilitate the habitat of tigers and other wild animals. In some places, scaffolding has been built on high ground for monitoring. Jungle safaris with forest officials were provided to the tourists in some parts of the forest to enable the forest safari to be done in a protected manner.
वाघ आणी इतर वन्य प्राण्यांच्या वास्तव्यास सुकर बनवण्यासाठी जागोजागी कृत्रिम पाणवठे बनवण्यात आले आहेत. काही जागी देखरेख करण्यासाठी उंचावर मचाण बांधण्यात आले आहे. पर्यटकांना जंगलातील काही भागात वन अधिकाऱ्यांसोबत जंगल सफारीची सोय करण्यात आली ज्यामुळे संरक्षितरीत्या जंगल सफारी करता येईल.

After visiting all the places throughout the day, We visited Sri Shailam. After that we started our return journey. The forest route was scheduled to close at 9.00 pm. It had run out of petrol at the petrol pump. The range of the car was 115 km. Ghat Road and that too 60 Km forest. Just half an hour before the gate closes, it’s a very exciting event. After Crossing the ghat, we reached the forest gate exactly 10 minutes before. And breathed the first sigh of relief. But now the real exciting journey began.
दिवसभर सर्व ठिकाणे फिरून पुढे आम्ही श्री शैलम येथे भेट दिली. आणी आम्ही परतीच्या प्रवासाला सुरुवात केली. जंगलातील मार्ग हा रात्री 9.00 pm ला बंद होणार होता. त्यात पेट्रोल पंपावर पेट्रोल संपले होते. गाडी मधील 115 km ची रेंज दाखवत होता. त्यात घाट रस्ता आणी तोही 60 Km चे जंगल. गेट बंद व्हायला फक्त अर्धा तास सर्वाच अगदी अंगावर शहारे आणणारे प्रसंग. मग काय स्वामींचे नाव घेऊन निघालो प्रवासाला. घाट पार करत आम्ही अगदी 10 मिनिटे अगोदर जंगलाच्या गेट जवळ पोहोचलो. आणी पहिला सुटकेचा निश्वास सोडला. पण आता खरा उत्कंठा वाढविणारा प्रवास सुरू झाला.
Just think, We were alone with our car in the dense forest, driven our car with a help of of our car’s headlight, Black pitch darkness everywhere. Each twist and turn was breathtaking and full of fun. I was driving, and looking around forest to saw wild animals. After some time I felt movement in a bush, so I slowed down our car a bit. And look around, a wild boar was seen on the left side of the car. I can never forget this 55 km journey. Which took about an hour and a half to complete. Now check post appeared in front which indicates that The forest is over. After some time, petrol pump was found at some distance from there. Further we traveled overnight and reached Kurwapur in the morning.
विचार करा, घनदाट जंगलात फक्त आमचीच गाडी गाडीच्या हेडलाइट चा प्रकाश बाकी सर्वत्र काळा कुट्ट अंधार. प्रतेक वळणारे वळण चित्तथरारक पण तेव्हढेच मजेशीर वाटत होते. मी गाडी चालवताना आजुबाजुला कोणी जंगली प्राणी दिसतोय का ते पहात होतो. मधेच एका झाडीत हालचाल जाणवली मी गाडी थोडी स्लो केली. आणी पाहतो तर काय एक रानटी डुक्कर गाडीच्या डाव्या बाजूला दिसला. मनात म्हटले वाघ नाही तर डुक्कर तरी दिसला. हा 55 km चा प्रवास मी कधीही विसरू शकत नाही. जो पूर्ण करायला तब्बल दीड तास लागला होता. आता समोर चेक पोस्ट दिसू लागले. तिथून काही अंतरावर पेट्रोल पंप ही सापडला. पुढे आम्ही रात्रभर प्रवास करून सकाळी कुरवापूरला पोहोचलो.
