येथील मला आवडणारा भाग म्हणजे अप्रतिम अशी अवघड वळणे. त्यातील एक यूटर्न तर आपली ड्रायव्हिंग कौशल्ये तपासणारा आहे. या घाटात पहाटेचा प्रवास तो ही अत्यंत उत्कंठावर्धक असतो. पावसात पडणारे धुके, ज्यामुळे वाहनं चालवताना अगदी अंधुक आणी ढगाळ वातावरण असते. त्यात नागमोडी वळणे फारच साहसी वाटतात. तसेच रात्रीच्या वेळी मुख्यत्वे करून पौर्णिमेच्या जवळील रात्रं यावेळी घाटातून मध्यरात्री प्रवास केल्यास बरेच वन्यजीव अगदी समोरून रस्ता पार करताना दिसतात. प्रवासाची आवड असल्यामुळे अनेक अनुभव मी प्रत्यक्ष घेतले आहेत.

आंबोली हे ठिकाण सह्याद्री पर्वत रांगांचा एक भाग आहे. जो पाश्चिम घाटात येतो. येथील सदाहरित वनात अनेक दुर्मिळ आणी प्राचीन वृक्ष, औषधी वनस्पती आणी वन्यजीव वास करतात. ससा, अस्वल, कोल्हा, तरस, वाघ, अस्वल, गाव रेडा, अजगर, अनेक प्रकारचे साप, येथील एक शेवाळ ज्याला मर्गज असे म्हणतात फार प्रसिद्ध आहे. ज्याचा खासियत म्हणजे यावर पाणी टाकल्यावर हे अगदी हिरवीगार होते. आणी त्यातील पाणी सुकल्यावर तपकिरी रंगाचे होते. अनेक जागी गणपती च्या सजावटीत याचा वापर केला जातो. अनेक वेळा रात्रीच्या प्रवासादरम्यान आम्ही ससा, कोल्हा यासारखे प्राणी आंबोली च्या घाटात पाहिले आहेत.
