Konkan is known as Parashuram Bhoomi and its people are somewhat like that. This time I remember one marathi song from Konkan. “Gomu maher la jate ho Nakhwa” show her husband a beautiful Konkan. This unseen Konkan is going to be seen again with us. In which we are visiting the scenic village Vadkhol here. This village is somewhat remote but equally beautiful. Earlier, to reach here, one had to travel 3 to 4 kilometers from Phanaskhol through the forest. Now communication has become easy due to good roads in the village.

कोकणास परशुराम भूमी म्हणुन ओळखली जाते येथील माणसे ही काहीशी तशीच आहेत. यावेळी कोकणातील ते गाणे आठवते. “गोमू माहेरला जाते हो नाखवा तिच्या घोवाला कोंकण दाखवा.” असा हा न पाहिलेले कोकण आज आपल्या सोबत पुन्हा पाहणार आहे. ज्यामध्ये  आपण येथील निसर्गरम्य गाव वडखोल येथे भेट देत आहोत. हे गाव काहीसे दुर्गम पण तेवढेच देखणे आहे. पूर्वी येथे पोहोचण्यासाठी फणसखोल येथून पाई प्रवास करून तब्बल 3 ते 4 किलोमीटर, जंगलातून वाट काढत पोहोचावे लागे. आता गावात उत्तम रस्ते झाल्यामुळे दळणवळण सुकर झाले आहे.

It would not be wrong to say that the village is the best example of the ingenuity of our ancestors. The reason for this is the horticulture here. This area is situated on a very remote mountain range. There is no flat land required for horticulture. Yet the former inhabitants here flourished paradise. They planted and nurtured many trees such as betel nut, ratambe, mango, various spices, fanas, teak trees, coconut trees, using the slopes of the mountain range. For this he made full use of natural water management. Water pots were delivered to each gardener. Rainwater was used for horticulture through this pata. Thus a beautiful paradise as well as means of livelihood is handed over to our next generation like a lifelong pension.

गाव म्हणजे आपल्या पूर्वजांच्या कल्पकतेचे उत्तम उदाहरण म्हंटले तर वावगे ठरणार नाही. याचे कारण म्हणजे येथील बागायती. हा भाग अतिशय दुर्गम डोंगर माळावर वसलेला. बागायती साठी लागणारी सपाट जमीन येथे न्हवती. तरीही येथील पूर्वीच्या रहिवाश्यांनी येथे नंदनवन फुलवले. त्यांनी डोंगर माळावर उताराचा वापर करून सुपारी, रातांबे, आंबे, विविध मसाल्याचे पदार्थ, फणस, सागाची झाडे, नारळाची झाडे अशा प्रकारची अनेक वृक्षांचे रोपण आणी संगोपन केले. यासाठी त्यांनी नैसर्गिक पाणी व्यवस्थापन याचा पुरेपूर वापर केला. प्रतेक बागायती जवळ पाण्याचे पाट पोहोचवले. पावसातील पाणी या पाटाद्वारे बागायतीला मिळत असे. अशाप्रकारे एक सुंदर असे नंदनवन तसेच उपजीविकेचे साधन एखाद्या आयुष्यभर मिळत राहणार्‍या पेंशन प्रमाणे आपल्या पुढील पिढीला सुपूर्द केले.

Vadkhol folk art – Speciality Standing Bhajan

Phanaskhol and Odkhol are nearby villages. Therefore, a Bhajan Mandal has been established by the amateur artistes there. The specialty of this troupe is that they perform bhajans while standing. From a 10-year-old child to a 70-year-old gentleman participates in it. Excellent team unity and harmony can be seen. Sometimes sitting, sometimes holding a sling, sometimes spinning around themselves, they perform beautifully. In this, the contract of tabla and tala or Paul never goes wrong.
