Someshwar Falls is located in Ambedkar Nagar, Nashik district, formed from the banks of the Godavari River. Its flow resembles the English letter “S”. Its main stream is highly frothy. And that’s why this waterfall is known as Dudh Sagar waterfall because this stream looks like milk when the rain subsides. Very few people know about this waterfall.
सोमेश्वर धबधबा हा नाशिक जिल्ह्यातील आंबेडकर नगर येथील, गोदावरी नदीच्या पात्रा पासून बनलेला आहे. याचा प्रवाह इंग्रजी अक्षर “S” सारखाच दिसतो. त्यातील मुख्य प्रवाह फार मोठ्या प्रमाणात फेसाळणारा आहे. आणी त्यामुळे पाऊस ओसरल्यावर हा प्रवाह दुधासारखा भासतो म्हणुनच या धबधब्याला दूध सागर धबधबा म्हणुन ही ओळखले जाते. हा धबधबा फार कमी जणांना माहित आहे.
Personal experience as Someshwar waterfall travel guide –
While searching for some such lesser known places, information about Someshwar Falls was found and a road trip was immediately planned. We left Mumbai towards Nashik around 2:30 am as usual. Reached Igatpuri by crossing Thane, Bhiwandi, except for the sporadic traffic in Bhiwandi, the rest of the road was clear. So Kasara and Igatpuri could experience a foggy invirment at Igatpuri. Next entered Nashik. We are just 10 km from Nashik. Reached Someshwar Falls.
अश्याच काही कमी माहित असलेल्या जागा शोधताना, सोमेश्वर धबधब्याची माहिती मिळाली आणी लगेचच रोड ट्रीप चा प्लॅन आखण्यात आला. आम्ही नेहमीप्रमाणे मध्यरात्री सुमारे 2:30 am च्या दरम्यान मुंबईहून नाशिक च्या दिशेने निघालो. ठाणे, भिवंडी कसारा करीत इगतपुरी गाठली, भिवंडीतील तुरळक ट्रॅफिक सोडली तर बाकी रस्ता मोकळा मिळाला. त्यामुळे कसारा आणी इगतपुरी ही थोडे धुके अनुभवता आले. पुढे नाशिक मध्ये प्रवेश केला. नाशिक पासुन अवघ्या 10 km अंतर पार करून आम्ही. सोमेश्वर धबधबा येथे पोहोचलो.
Ample parking space is available near Someshwar Falls. After parking the car there, we went near the falls. Some information and instructions were mentioned on the notice board there. The important clue was that this Godavari riverbed is much deeper. So one should not try to swim here. After going further, the vast vessel of Godavari river came into view. A small embankment was built there. The water of the river was collapsing from the top of the embankment into the deep area ahead. This is the Someshwar waterfall.
सोमेश्वर धबधब्याजवळ पार्किंग साठी मुबलक जागा उपलब्ध आहे. तेथे कार पार्क करून आम्ही धबधब्याच्या जवळ निघालो. जाता जाता तेथील सुचना फलकावर काही माहिती व सुचना नमूद केल्या होत्या. त्या मध्ये महत्त्वाची सुचना ही होती की हे गोदावरी नदीचे पात्र जास्त खोल आहे. त्यामुळे कोणीही येथे पोहण्याचा प्रयत्न करु नये. पुढे गेल्यावर गोदावरी नदीचे विस्तीर्ण पात्र दृष्टीस पडले. तेथे एक छोटासा बंधारा बांधण्यात आला होता. नदीचे पाणी त्या बंधारा वरून पुढे असलेल्या खोल भागात कोसळत होते. हाच तो सोमेश्वर धबधबा.
After going a little further, the charming of the waterfall came into view. Although this waterfall was not very big, it was very different. And we were completely mesmerized by this waterfall which looks like the English letter “S” and its varied water flow. Its main stream was flowing at such a speed that the milky white stream seemed to be foaming in front of us. One can get very close to the dhaba by going down some steps. But seeing the mossy and slightly sloping land there, we resisted that temptation. Instead we stopped at different safe places and enjoyed the natural beauty. After seeing such a lovely waterfall, we visited the nearby south facing Maruti temple and after seeing Maruti Raya, we started our next journey.
अजून थोडे पुढे गेल्यावर धबधब्याचे मनमोहक रूप दृष्टीस आले. हा धबधबा फार मोठा नसला तरी फार वेगळा होता. आणी त्याच्या इंग्रजी मुळाक्षर “S” या सारखा दिसणारा हा धबधबा व त्याचे विविधांगी जल प्रवाह पाहून आम्ही अगदी मंत्रमुग्ध झालो. त्यातील मुख्य जल प्रवाह एव्हड्या वेगात वाहत होता की, त्यामुळे दुधासारखा पांढरा शुभ्र प्रवाह जणू आमच्या समोर फेसाळत वाहतो आहे असे वाटले. काही पायर्‍या उतरून धाब्यावर अगदी जवळ जाता येते. पण तेथील असलेल्या शेवाळ युक्त आणी काहीश्या घसरणाऱ्या जमिनीला पाहून आम्ही तो मोह टाळला. त्या ऐवजी आम्ही वेगवेगळ्या सुरक्षित जागी उभे राहून तेथील नैसर्गिक सौंदर्याचा आस्वाद घेतला. असा मनमोहक धबधबा पाहून झाल्यावर आम्ही जवळच्या दक्षिण मुखी मारुती मंदिराला भेट दिली आणी मारुतीरायाचे दर्शन घेऊन आम्ही पुढील प्रवासाला निघालो.
