Kanifnath Gad The place is dedicated to Kanifnath, one of the Navanathas of the Nath sect. According to a legend, Kanifnath appeared as a baby from the ear of an elephant in the Himalayas. For this reason, his name came to be known as Kanifnath. Later he took initiation into the Nath sect, close to Machchindra Nath. There are more than eighty Gurus in the Nath Sampradaya. But among them, Navnath is mainly considered as the father of the Nath sect. Navnath Bhaktisara mentions his information and his teachings. It is called Kanifnath or Kanhoba. He did penance at Kanifnath fort for 12 years. Later Sanjivani Samadhi was taken at Madhi in Ahmednagar district.
कानीफनाथ गड हे ठिकाण, नाथ संप्रदायातील नवनाथा पैकी एक असलेले कानीफनाथ यांना समर्पित आहे. एका आख्यायिके प्रमाणे कानीफनाथ हे हिमालय येथे हत्तीच्या कानातून बाळ अवस्थेत प्रकट झाले. या कारणास्तव त्यांचे नाव कानीफनाथ असे प्रचलित झाले. पुढे त्यांनी मच्छिंद्र नाथांच्या जवळ, नाथ संप्रदायाची दीक्षा घेतली. तसे नाथ संप्रदायात ऐंशीहून अधिक गुरू आहेत. पण त्यातील नवनाथ हे प्रामुख्याने नाथ संप्रदायाचे जनक मानले जातात. नवनाथ भक्तीसार या ग्रंथात त्यांची माहिती आणी त्यांच्या लीला नमूद केल्या आहेत. कानीफनाथ ना कान्होबा असे ही म्हंटले जाते. त्यांनी कानीफनाथ गड येथे तब्बल 12 वर्षे तपछर्या केली. पुढे अहमदनगर जिल्ह्यातील मढी येथे संजीवनी समाधी घेतली.

We have visited Kanifnath Fort during my bike ride from Mumbai to Saswad. We started our bike ride Around 11:30 from Mumbai for road trip and Reached Hinjewadi via Khopoli, Lonavla via old Mumbai – Pune highway. Next we chose bhopdev ghat to go to saswad. Going forward like that, the heart was delighted to see the adventurous turns in Bhopdev Ghat and the scenic views around.
मुंबई ते सासवड या बाइक राईड दरम्यान मी कानीफनाथ गड येथे भेट दिली होती. मुंबईहुन साधारण 11:30 vajta आम्ही रोड ट्रीप la निघालो. जुन्या मुंबई – पुणे हायवे मार्फत खोपोली, लोणावळा मार्गे हिंजेवाडी येथे पोहोचलो. त्यापुढे सासवड येथे जाण्यासाठी आम्ही भोपदेव घाट हा पर्याय निवडला. त्याप्रमाणे पुढे जात भोपदेव घाटातील साहसी वळणे आणी सभोवतालच्या निसर्गरम्य देखावे पाहून मन प्रफुल्लित झाले.
A few moments later an arch came into view on the left side before coming to Saswad. Kanifnath Fort was mentioned on it. After entering through the arch, a small road through a village took us to the base of the fort. Again a welcoming arch appeared in front. A steep hill started from there. After two to four difficult turns, we reached the base of the temple.
पुढे काही वेळताच सासवड येण्यापूर्वी डाव्या बाजूस एक कमान नजरेसमोर आली. त्यावर kanifnath गड असे नमूद केले होते. कमानीतून आत शिरल्यावर एक छोटा रस्ता एका गावातून आम्हाला गडाच्या पायथ्याशी घेऊन गेला. पुन्हा एक स्वागत करणारी कमान समोर दिसली. तेथून पुढे एक उंच टेकडी सुरू झाली. दोन ते चार अवघड वळणे घेत आम्ही मंदिराच्या पायथ्याची पोहोचलो.
There is a Datta temple on the left side so first having darshan of Dattatreya and then approaching the steps of the original temple. A small market was found there, with hotels and shops. While walking up the steps, Alakh Niranjan came from his mouth as Nath’s admonitions. After walking fifty to sixty steps, the temple came into view. On the left side of the main temple, we saw an elephant and a fiber idol of Kanifnath appearing from its ears. After that, after entering the temple, a big brass horse and a mausoleum like chauthara came into view. Seeing that, we reached the main gabharya. And I was surprised.
तेथे डाव्याबाजूला एक दत्त मंदिर आहे त्यामुळे प्रथम दत्तात्रेयांचे दर्शन घेऊन नंतर मूळ मंदिराच्या पायर्‍या जवळ पोहोचलो. तेथे छोटेखानी बाजारपेठ वसलेली दिसली, ज्यात हॉटेल आणी दुकाने होती. पायर्‍या चालून जाताना मुखातून अलख निरंजन हे नाथांच् बोध वाक्यं मानत येऊन गेले. पन्नास ते साठ पायर्‍या चालून आल्यावर मंदिर दृष्टीस पडले. मुख्य मंदिराच्या डाव्या बाजूला हत्ती आणी त्याच्या कानातून प्रकट झालेले कानिफनाथ अशी फायबर पासून बनविलेली मूर्ती आम्ही पाहिली. तद्नंतर मंदिरात प्रवेश केल्यावर मोठा पितळी घोडा आणी एक समाधी सारखं चौथरा नजरेस आला. ते पाहून आम्ही मुख्य गाभार्‍या जवळ पोहोचलो. आणी अचंबित झालो.

The entire wall of the temple was decorated with silver sheets. And there was a door made in the shape of a very small window at the bottom. The door was so small that anyone would believe that it was the entrance to the core. There are some rules to enter here. The main thing is that a person of any size can enter only with the strength of her infinite faith. Seeing this, the mind was filled with the impression of such infinite divine power.
मंदिराची संपूर्ण भिंत ही चांदीच्या पत्र्याने सुशोभित करण्यात आली होती. आणी तेथे खालील बाजूस अगदी लहान खिडकीच्या आकाराचा दरवाजा बनवला होता. तो दरवाजा एवढा लहान होता की पाहून कोणालाही विश्वास बसणार की यातून गाभाऱ्यात प्रवेश करता येईल. येथे प्रवेश करण्यासाठी काही नियम आहेत पुरुष मंडळी सोवळेओवळे नेसून येथे प्रवेश करू शकतात. मुख्य म्हणजे कोणत्याही आकाराची व्यक्ति केवळ तिच्या असीम श्रद्धेच्या जोरावर आत प्रवेश करू शकते. ही बाब पाहून मन असीम अश्या दैवी सामर्थ्याचा आभास झाल्यामुळे भरून आले.

There are some other shrines in the temple premises which are at the back of the temple. The deities Vitthal-Rakhumai, Shri Shivshankar and Kalu Bai are seated in this respectively. Several families were seen coming down the stairs. Many of them were sitting there having arranged the letters for breakfast brought from home and chatting with each other. Seeing that, this place is perfect for a family outing. From there a deep gorge was seen from where much of the surrounding area and amazing scenery was visible. After seeing all this nature, we left for the next journey.
मंदिराच्या आवारात इतरही काही मंदिर आहे जी मंदिराच्या मागील बाजूस आहे. यामध्ये अनुक्रमे विठ्ठल-रखुमाई, श्री शिवशंकर आणी काळू बाई या देवी देवता विराजमान आहेत. पायर्‍या उतरून खाली येताना अनेक कुटुंबे दिसली. बरेच जण तेथे घरातून आणलेल्या न्याहारीसाठी पत्रावळ्या मांडून आपसा छान गप्पा मारत बसले होते. ते पाहून ही जागा कौटुंबिक सहली साठी ही उत्तम असल्याचे लक्षात आले. तेथून पुढे खोल दरी दिसून आली जेथून सभोवतालच्या परिसराचा बराचसा भाग आणी अप्रतिम निसर्ग देखावे नजरेस पडले. या सर्व निसर्गाचे दर्शन घेऊन आम्ही पुढील प्रवासासाठी निघालो.
