The original name of Sri Tuljabhavani Devi is Kuktana. The story of this name is as follows. A sage’s wife was bereaved after the death of her husband and absorbed in meditation for peace of mind. At that time, the evil eye of a demon fell on her, that demon tried to break the austerity of the sage’s wife and at that time the sadhvi shouted Jagadamba. At that moment Goddess Jagdamba Mata appeared there and killed the demon. Due to this quick action, the name of the goddess was given as Quickna and the place where she appeared was called Quicktapur, which later became a corruption of today’s name Tuljapur and the name of the goddess Tuljabhawani.

श्री तुळजाभवानी देवीचे मूळ नाव हे त्वरिता. या नावाची कथा पुढील प्रमाणे. एक ऋषी पत्नी ने तिच्या पतीच्या निधनानंतर शोकाकुल होऊन मनाच्या स्थैर्यासाठी ध्यान साधनेत लीन झाली. त्यावेळी एका दैत्याची  वाईट नजर तिच्यावर पडली त्या दैत्याने ऋषी पत्नीचा तप भंग करण्याचा प्रयत्न केला आणी त्यावेळी साधवीने जगदंबेचा धावा केला. त्यावेळी क्षणार्धात देवी जगदंबा मातेने तेथे प्रकट होऊन दैत्याचा संहार केला. या त्वरित क्रिये मुळे देवीचे नाव त्वरिता असे ठेवण्यात आले आणी ज्या जागी प्रकट झाली ठिकाण त्वरीतापूर पुढे नावाचा अपभ्रंश होऊन आजचे नाव तुळजापूर आणी देवीचे नाव तुळजाभवानी.

साडेतीन शक्तिपीठ, यामागील आख्यायिका पुढील प्रमाणे. दक्ष प्रजापती यांची कन्या आणी देवी शक्ति प्रतिरूप देवी सती ही आपल्या पतीचा आपल्या पित्या कडून झालेला अपमान पाहून खिन्न झाली. पित्याने योजलेल्या यज्ञ कुंडात तिने आपल्या देहाची आहुती दिली. त्यावेळी भगवान शिव शंकरांनी तो देहत बाहेर काढून पृथ्वी तलावर आकाशातून मार्गक्रमण केले. त्यावेळी त्या देहाचे अवशेष जेथे धरतीला  येऊन मिळाले ते ठिकाण पावन होऊन त्याचे रूपांतर शक्तिपिठात झाले. अश्या प्रकारची अनुक्रमे 1) देवी तुळजा भवानी – तुळजापूर 2) देवी रेणुका माता माहूर गड 2) श्री महालक्ष्मी – अंबाबाई कोल्हापुर ही तीन पूर्ण पीठे आणी सप्तशृंगी वणी हे अर्ध पीठ मानले जाते.

Personal experience Mumbai to Tulja bhavani temple Tuljapur

All of us have visited the three and a half Shakti Peetha many times. Among them, he is sharing with us his experience of visiting Tuljapur. Tuljapur is located in the Osmanabad district of Maharashtra, very close to Solapur.We visited Tuljapur during our Mumbai Akkalkot trip. Buses are available every 1 hour from Solapur to Tuljapur. We had booked Maxicab from Akkalkot. So we could do Tuljapur, Solapur and Pandharpur in one day. We reached Tuljapur around 11:00. Darshan could be taken in two ways. One face darshan and another darshan near gabharya. We chose the second option.

आम्ही सर्व साडेतीन शक्ति पीठाचे बरेच वेळा दर्शन घेतले आहे. त्यापैकी तुळजापूर येथील भेटीचे अनुभव आपल्या बरोबर शेअर करत आहे. तुळजापूर हे ठिकाण महाराष्ट्रातील उस्मानाबाद जिल्ह्यात येथे, सोलापूर पासून अगदी जवळ असलेले या ठिकाणास आम्ही आमच्या मुंबई अक्कलकोट ट्रीप दरम्यान तुळजापूर येथे भेट दिली होती. सोलापूर येथून तुळजापूर येथे जाण्यासाठी दर 1 तासात बसेस उपलब्ध आहेत. आम्ही अक्कलकोट येथून Maxicab बूक केली होती. त्यामुळे एका दिवसात आम्ही तुळजापूर, सोलापूर आणी पंढरपुर ही ठिकाणे करू शकलो. तुळजापूर येथे आम्ही 11:00 च्या सुमारास पोहोचलो. दर्शन दोन प्रकारे घेता येत होते. एक मुख दर्शन आणी दुसरे गाभार्‍या जवळील दर्शन. आम्ही दुसरा पर्याय निवडला.

While standing in the main queue of the temple, many villagers told us that they were priests. And after taking darshan asked to do personal aarti and darshan in gabhara. After entering through the main gate, the villagers took us in front of an office. And they started requesting us to buy saree and choli. The cost of which was much higher than the OT we had with us. However, not to be insulted, we took two OTs, one for each family. The gentleman left after queuing us up and met us again when we entered the main hall. After that, however, he made a great darshan as he said. It seemed that we were someone special than other people.

मंदिराच्या मुख्य रांगेत उभे असताना अनेक ग्रामस्थांनी आम्हास पुजारी असल्याचे सांगितले. आणी दर्शन घेतल्यानंतर वैयक्तिक आरती आणी गाभाऱ्यातील दर्शन करून देऊ असे सांगितले. मुख्य दरवाज्यातून आत गेल्यावर ते ग्रामस्थ आम्हास एका कार्यालयासमोर घेऊन गेले. आणी आम्हास साडी आणी चोळी घेण्यास विनंती करू लागले. ज्याची किम्मत ही आमच्या सोबत असलेल्या ओटी पेक्षा फारच अधिक होती. तरी अवमान नको म्हणुन आम्ही दोन कुटुंबीयांना एक अश्या दोन ओटी घेतल्या. पुढे आम्हाला रांगेत उभं करून ते सद्गृहस्थ निघून गेले ते पुन्हा भेटले जेव्हा आम्ही मुख्य गाभाऱ्यात प्रवेश केला. त्या पुढे मात्र त्यांनी सांगितल्याप्रमाणे उत्तम दर्शन घडवून आणले. ईतर व्यक्तीं पेक्षा आम्ही कुणी विशेष आहोत असे भासत होते.

Tulja Bhavani is considered as the talisman of Maharashtra. She is the root of our Rajadhiraj Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Bhavani is the deity of Chhatrapati. Legend has it that Bhavani Mata herself gave the sword to Chhatrapati as a blessing, using which the Maharaja performed many feats. Therefore, Goddess Tuljabhavani is believed to be the Goddess of Maharashtra only.

तुळजाभवानी ही महाराष्ट्राची कुलदेवता मानली जाते. ती म्हणजे आपले राजाधिराज छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराज यांच्या मुळे, भवानी ही छत्रपतींची कुलदेवता. स्वतः भवानी मातेने छत्रपती यांना तलवार आशीर्वाद रुपात दिली होती ज्याचा ऊपयोग करून महाराजानी अनेक पराक्रम गाजवले अशी आख्यायिका आहे. त्यामुळे देवी तुळजाभवानी ही अवघ्या महाराष्ट्राची कुलदेवता आहे असे मानले जाते.

Architecture of तुळजाभवानी temple

The temple of Goddess Tuljabhavani Mata is established on a hill called Ghatshil. The temple has four main gates. Out of which the names of 3 doors are Maharaj Shahajiraje, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Masaheb Jijamata of them and all of us. And the name of the main gate is Sardar Nimbalkar Gate. There is a water tank next to the temple and water is released from the nearby gomukh. The entire temple premises and the main gabhara doors are built in black stone. An octagonal idol of the goddess is visible in front of the main core. Who is Mahishasurmardini Devi Parvati i.e. Goddess Tuljabhavani. On the right side of the gabharya is the bedroom of the goddess. Where Goddess sleeps for 21 days in a year.

देवी तुळजाभवानी मातेचे मंदिर हे एका टेकडीवर स्थापित आहे ज्याला घाटशिळ असे म्हंटले जाते. मंदिराला मुख्य असे चार दरवाजे आहेत. ज्यातील 3 दरवाज्यांची नावे, महाराज शहाजीराजे, छत्रपति शिवाजी महाराज आणी त्यांच्या आणी आपल्या सर्वांच्या मासाहेब जिजामाता अशी आहेत. आणी प्रमुख दरवाज्याचे नाव सरदार निंबाळकर दरवाजा असा आहे. मंदिराच्या शेजारी पाण्याचे कुंड आहे व शेजारी गोमुखातून पाणी सोडले जाते. संपूर्ण मंदिर परिसर आणी मुख्य गाभारा दरवाजे हे काळ्या पाषाणात बांधलेले दिसतात. मुख्य गाभाऱ्यात समोर देवीची अष्टभुजाधारी मूर्ती नजरेसमोर येते. जी महिषासुरमर्दिनी देवी पार्वती म्हणजेच देवी तुळजाभवानी आहे. गाभार्‍याच्या उजव्या बाजूस देवीचे शयन गृह आहे. जेथे वर्षातील 21 दिवस देवी निद्रिस्त असते.
