Mandhardevi Kalubai Devi’s avatar story is a Pandava contemporary. A demon king named ratnasur ruled yete this time. The general of this king was harassing the sages of Lakyasur. In it, he obtained the boon of immortality from Lord Shankara through severe penance. Therefore, no man or god could kill him during the day. If one fought, Lakhasura would reappear in his original form as soon as his blood fell on the ground.

मांढरदेवी देवी काळूबाई देवीची अवतार कथा ही पांडव समकालीन आहे. या वेली रत्नासुर नावाचा दैत्य राजा येथे राज्य करीत होता. या राजाचा सेनापती लाख्यासूर, येथील ऋषी मुनींचे अतोनात हाल करीत होता. त्यात कठीण तपश्चर्येद्वारे भगवान शंकरांकडून त्याने अमरत्वाचे वरदान प्राप्त केले होते. त्यामुळे कोणीही पुरुष अथवा देव दिवसा त्याचा संहार करू शकत न्हवता. कोणी युद्ध केले तर लाखासुराचे रक्त जमिनीवर पडताच तो मूळ रुपात पुन्हा प्रकट होत असे.

At that time, Sage Mandilya along with his followers was performing Yagna rituals at Mandhardeva i.e. then Mandar Parvat. The demon Lakhasura and his army always interfered with their sacrifices. At that time Sage Mandilya appealed to Lord Shiva Parvati through his penance. Pleased with him, Goddess Parvati appeared as Mahakali and fought with Lakhyasura. In the first battle, Lakhasura was revived as soon as his blood fell on the ground. Seeing that, Mother Kali drank the blood of Lakhyasura herself in the next battle without letting it spill on the ground. So Lakyasura was killed. At that time, sages established a temple and the name of Goddess Kali Mata on Mandar mountain, i.e. today’s Mandhardevi Kalubai, became famous.

त्यावेळी मांढरदेव म्हणजेच तेव्हाचा मंदार पर्वत येथे  मांडिल्य ऋषी त्यांच्या अनुयायांन सोबत यज्ञविधी करत होते. राक्षस लाखासूर आणि त्याची सेना सदैव त्यांच्या यज्ञात विघ्न आणत असत. त्यावेळी आपल्या तपसमर्थ्याद्वारे मांडिल्य ऋषी यांनी भगवान शिवपार्वती चे आवाहन केले. त्याला प्रसन्न होऊन देवी पार्वतीने महाकाली या रूपात प्रकट होऊन लाख्यासुरा बरोबर युद्ध केले. प्रथम युद्धात लाखासुराचे रक्त जमिनीवर पडताच तो पुनर्जीवित झाला. ते पाहून माता कालीने पुढील युद्धात लाख्यासुराच रक्त जमिनीवर सांडू न देता ते स्वतः प्राशन केले. त्यामुळे लाख्यासुराचा वध झाला. त्यावेळी ऋषींनी एक मंदीर स्थापून मंदार पर्वतावरील देवी काली माता म्हणजेच आजची मांढरदेवी काळूबाई हे नाव प्रसिद्धीस आले.

Mandhardevi Kalubai jata – मांढरदेवी देवी काळुबाई जत्रा

The day Goddess Kaleshwari i.e. Kalubai killed Lakhasura. That day was Paush Poornima. A grand fair is held every year on this day. This fair lasts for about eight to fifteen days. At this time the devotees make some vows to fulfill their wishes and after they are done, the goddess comes near to fulfill the vows. A large number of goats and chickens are sacrificed. It is associated with a boon given to fulfill the last wish of the goddess ne lakyasurachi, not for the goddess according to one legend. This bloodletting is to appease the demon who is located at the feet of the goddess. Lakhs of devotees visit here every year. The entire Mandhardevghat is filled with vehicles of devotees.

देवी काळेश्वरी म्हणजेच काळूबाई ज्या दिवशी लाखासुराचा वध केला. तो दिवस होता पौष पोर्णिमा. याच दिवशी दरवर्षी भव्य अशी जत्रा भरवली जाते. ही जत्रा तब्बल आठ ते पंधरा दिवस येवढी असते. यावेळी भाविक आपल्या मनोकामना पुरती साठी काही नवस करतात तसेच ती पूर्ण झाल्यावर नवस पूर्ण करण्यास देवी जवळ येतात. मोठ्या प्रमाणावर बोकड आणी कोंबडय़ा यांचे बळी दिले जातात. ते एका आख्यायिकेनुसार देवी साठी नसून देवी ne lakyasurachi शेवटची इच्छा पूर्ण करण्यासाठी दिलेल्या वरदानाशी निगडित आहे. हा रक्तपात राक्षसाला शांत ठेवण्यासाठी आहे जो देवीच्या पायाशी स्थित आहे. दरवर्षी लाखो भाविक येथे दर्शनाला येतात. संपूर्ण मांढरदेवघाट भाविकांच्या वाहनांनी भरून जातो.

Mandhardevi accident – मांढरदेवी देवी येथील दुर्घटना

The incident that took place during Mandhardevi Devi Jatrotsava was very horrible. It was as if Lakhasur had reawakened and killed hundreds of innocents. That day was January 25, 2005. On the day, lakhs of devotees crowded into the inadequate space. A gas cylinder exploded in a hotel near Cheghara Chengachengari. Due to this, the stampede increased in the crowd and more than two hundred and fifty devotees lost their lives in the fire

मांढरदेवी देवी जत्रोत्सवा दरम्यान घडलेली घटना फार भयानक होती. जणू काही लाखासूर पुन्हा जागृत होऊन त्याने शेकडो निरपराधांचा बळी घेतला होता. तो दिवस होता 25 जानेवारी 2005. यादिवशी लाखो भाविकांची वर्दळ असल्याने अपुऱ्या जागेत त्यांची घुसमट होत होती. त्यातच cheghara चेंगराचेंगरी जवळील हॉटेलातील गॅस सिलेंडरचा विस्फोट झाला.  त्यामुळे गर्दीत चेंगराचेंगरी वाढली आणी अग्नितांडवात तब्बल अडीचशे हून अधिक भाविकांचा नाहक बळी गेला.

Personal Experience visit to Mandhardev ghat Kalubai travel guide – मांढरदेव घाट

There are two roads to reach Mandhardeo from Mumbai and Pune. One through Bhor and the other through Y. We fixed the route through Bhor while coming and through Y. We left Mumbai around 2 to 2:30 midnight to reach early in the morning. In the morning, we reached Mandhardev Ghat by dawn, enjoying the wonderful color scheme of nature. And the real adventure began. A one way road and vehicles coming on it from both sides. Swirling turns every minute. There were some steep climbs, deep valleys, scenic chilly atmosphere, all of it was an exciting atmosphere. So the joy of our trip was doubled. After crossing more than two dozen turns, we reached the tall Mandhargarh.

मुंबई आणी पुण्यावरून मांढरदेव येथे जाण्यासाठी दोन रस्ते आहेत. एक भोर मार्गे आणी दुसरा वाई मार्गे. जातेवेळी आम्ही भोर मार्गे आणी येतेवेळी वाईमार्गे असा मार्ग निश्चित केला. सकाळी लवकर पोहोचण्यासाठी मुंबईहून आम्ही मध्यरात्री दोन ते अडीच च्या सुमारास निघालो. सकाळी निसर्गाच्या अद्भूत रंगसंगतीच्या आनंद घेत आम्ही भोर मार्गे मांढरदेव घाटात पोहोचलो. आणी खरे एडवेंचर सुरू झाले. एकेरी रस्ता आणि त्यावर दोन्ही बाजूने येणारी वाहने. दर मिनिटाला येणारी नागमोडी वळणे. त्यावर काही उभा चढाव, खोल दर्‍या निसर्गरम्य थंडगार वातावरण सर्वच काही रोमांचकारी वातावरण होते. त्यामुळे आमच्या ट्रीप चा आनंद द्विगुणित झाला. तब्बल दोन डझन हून अधिक वळण पार केल्यावर आम्ही उंच अश्या मांढरगडावर पोहोचलो.

देवी काळुबाई चे मंदिर आणि सभोवतालचा परिसर

We reached the main temple by climbing approximately one hundred to one hundred and fifty steps from the vehicle base. There is a main temple in the center and other temples around. As we reached early in the morning, the Sringar Pooja of the Goddess was left. So we got to see the original idol of Shendur Vilepit without the mask. Photographing of the main idol was prohibited. The construction and renovation of the temple is believed to have taken place during the period of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The gabhara of the goddess and the entire temple are made of black stone. We visited mandhardev and other temples in the surrounding area respectively after seeing Goddess Manobhava Darshan.

वाहन तळापासून साधारणपणे शंभर ते दीडशे पायऱ्या चढून आपण मुख्य मंदिराकडे पोहोचलो. मध्य भागी मुख्य मंदिर आणी सभोवताली इतर मंदिरे आहेत. आम्ही सकाळी लवकर पोहोचल्याने देवीची शृंगार पूजा बाकी होती. त्यामुळे मुखवटा नसलेल्या शेंदूर विलेपित मुळ मूर्तीचे आम्हास दर्शन घडले. मुख्य मूर्तीचा फोटो काढण्यास मनाई होती. मंदिराचे बांधकाम आणी जिर्णोद्धार हा छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराज यांच्या काळात झाल्याचे समजते. देवीचा गाभारा आणी संपूर्ण मंदिर हे काळ्या पाषाणात बनलेले आहे. देवीचे मनोभावे दर्शन घेऊन आम्ही सभोवतालच्या क्रमशः mandhardev आणि इतर मंदिरांना ही भेट दिली.

The reason we decided to descend the fort soon after the darshan was that it was eight o’clock in the morning. Still the crowd of devotees was increasing. To avoid further traffic, we decided to start our return journey without stopping there for breakfast. After going down the ghat for a while, a gap started on the left side. A good hot breakfast and fresh strawberries could be bought in the hotel there. Then left for onward journey via Wai.

दर्शन झाल्यावर आम्ही लवकरच गडा खाली उतरायचे ठरवले त्याचे कारण म्हणजे, त्यावेळी सकाळचे आठ वाजले होते. तरीही भाविकांची गर्दी वाढत चालली होती. पुढील ट्रॅफिक पासून वाचण्यासाठी, तेथे नाश्त्यासाठी न थांबता आम्ही परतीचा प्रवास सुरु करायचे ठरवले. थोडा घाट उतरून झाल्यावर डाव्या बाजूस वाई फाटा लागला. तेथील हॉटेल मध्ये उत्तम गरमागरम नाश्ता आणी फ्रेश स्ट्रॉबेरी ची खरेदी करता आली. पुढे वाई मार्गे पुढील प्रवासासाठी साठी निघालो.
