अंबरनाथ म्हंटले की प्रथम आपणास काश्मीर खोर्‍यातील बाबा अमरनाथ या यात्रेचा आणी लाखो श्रद्धाळूंचे श्रद्धा स्थान भगवान शिव शंकराचे स्मरण होते. हेच अंबरनाथ या शिव मंदिराचे आराध्य दैवत आहे. अंबर म्हणजे आकाश आणी नाथ म्हणजे सर्वे सर्वा या आकाशाचा या विश्व विधात्याचे स्थान म्हणजे अंबरनाथ. त्या मुळे या गावाचे नाव हे अंबरनाथ असे पडले असावे. या मंदिराचे बांधकाम वरील बाजूस अपूर्ण असल्याचे दिसते. कारण या मंदिराच्या कळसाची बाजू ही रिकामी दिसते. ही बांधकामा दरम्यान अपूर्ण राहिली की काही विघ्नसंतोषी राजवटीने हल्ला करून मोडकळीस आणली याचा उलगडा होत नाही. या उलट एका आख्यायिके नुसार हे मंदिर अज्ञात वासात असलेल्या पांडवांनी बांधून काढले तेही एका रात्रीत आणी वेळ वेळ न पुरल्याने या मंदिराचे बांधकाम अर्धवट राहिले असावे.

In which many levels from the base of the temple to the kalasa are made of black stone and sculptures of avatars of many gods and goddesses, Gandharvas in various postures are carved on them. The reason why this temple must be Yadav period is that compared to the construction of the ancient temples we have earlier seen is very similar to the architecture of the Shiva temple at Ambernath.

हजार वर्षाहून अधिक जुने असलेले हे प्राचीन शिवमंदिर आहे. मुंबई पासून जवळ असलेल्या ठाणे जिल्हय़ातील अंबरनाथ या शहरात वसलेले आहे. हे मंदिर हेमाडपंथी शैलीतील एक अप्रतिम कलाकुसर असलेले मंदिर आहे. ज्यामधे मंदिराच्या पायापासून कळसापर्यंत अनेक स्तर काळ्या दगडात रचलेल् असून त्यावर अनेक देव देवतांचे अवतार, गंधर्व यांचे विविध मुद्रेतील शिल्पे कोरली आहेत. हे मंदिर यादव कालीन असावे याचे कारण आम्ही पाहिलेल्या प्राचीन मंदिरांचे बांधकाम हे अगदी अंबरनाथ येथील शिव मंदिराच्या वास्तू कलेशी मिळते जुळते आहे.

Experience to visit to the Ambernath Temple अंबरनाथ मंदिरातील आमच्या प्रत्यक्ष भेटीचा अनुभव

From Mumbai we decided to go by road as an alternative mode of transport for the journey, we reached Ambernath temple via Thane Kalyan. There is good parking facility in front as well as behind the temple. We parked our car there and proceeded towards the temple. Most of the area was open and like a large paddock. The Shiva temple in this root looked very attractive. The part on this temple was seen partially built so we could not see the peak of the temple.

मुंबईहुन आम्ही प्रवासासाठी वाहतुकीचा पर्याय म्हणुन रस्त्याने जायचे ठरवले ठाणे कल्याण मार्गे आम्ही अंबरनाथ मंदिरात पोहोचलो. मंदिराच्या पुढील तसेच मागील बाजूस पार्किंग ची उत्तम सोय आहे. आमची गाडी तेथे पार्क करून आम्ही मंदिराच्या दिशेने निघालो. बहुतांश भाग हा मोकळा आणी मोठ्या पटांगणा सारखा होता. या मुळे मध्ये असलेले शिव मंदीर फार आकर्षक दिसत होते. या मंदिरावरील भाग हा अर्धवट बनवलेला दिसून येत होता त्यामुळे मंदिरावर आम्हास कळस दिसून आला नाही.

Ambarnath temple main hall – अंबरनाथ मंदिराचा गाभारा

The temple had three doors out of which we entered the temple through the main door. At that time iron pillars were usually placed next to each stone pillar to hold the upper roof more firmly. Descending a few steps from the gabharya, we entered the sanctum sanctorum and saw the magnificent pindi of Shiva Shankar. In the light of lamps and clocks all around, that pindi of Shivashankar shone brighter than gold. We were completely mesmerized by the sight. As photography is prohibited inside the core, we followed that rule.

मंदिराला तीन दरवाजे होते त्यापैकी मुख्य दरवाज्यातून आम्ही मंदिरात प्रवेश केला. त्यावेळी साधारणपणे प्रतेक दगडी खांबा शेजारी लोखंडी खांब रचून त्यांच्या द्वारे वरील छत अधिक मजबूत पणे रोखून धरले होते. गाभार्‍यातून काही पायर्‍या उतरून गर्भगृहात प्रवेश केला आणी साक्षात्कार शिव शंकराची भव्य पिंडी दृष्टीस पडली. चारी बाजूस दिवे आणी समयांच्या प्रकाशात ती शिवशंकराची पिंडी सोन्यापेक्षाही तेजस्वी रूपाने उजळून निघाली होती. ते दृश्य पाहून आम्हि अगदी मंत्र मुग्ध झालो. गाभाऱ्यात फोटो काढण्यास बंदी असल्याने आम्ही त्या नियमाचे पालन केले.

The overall temple area is quite large. In which there is another Shiva Shankar temple outside the Ambarnath temple. People who can’t get a proper darshan due to the crowd can sit here and perform Abhishek Pooja to their heart’s content. Next to this temple there is an idol of Lord Brahma near the base of the temple. Idols of Brahma are very rare and rarely seen in temples. We circumambulated the entire temple from the outside after seeing Lord Brahma. And rested for a while and left for the next journey.

एकंदर मंदिर परिसर बराच मोठा आहे. ज्यामध्ये मंदिराच्या बाहेरील बाजूस अजून एक शिव शंकराचे मंदिर आहे. साधारणपणे गर्दीमुळे ज्याना नीट दर्शन घेता येत नाही असे लोक इथे बसुन मनसोक्त अभिषेक पूजाविधी करू शकतात. या मंदिराच्या शेजारीच मंदिराच्या पायथ्याजवळ ब्रम्ह देवाची मूर्ती आहे. ब्रम्ह देवांची मूर्ती ही फारच दुर्मिळ आहे देवळांमध्ये ती क्वचित पाहावयास मिळते. ब्रम्ह देवाचे दर्शन घेऊन आम्ही संपूर्ण मंदिरास बाहेरून प्रदक्षिणा घातली. आणी थोडावेळ विसावून पुढील प्रवासासाठी निघालो.
