Devi Chandika, also known as Chandika Devi or Chandimata, Chandika is a form of Goddess Durga. Maa Sherawali appears in many forms mounted on a lion to slay many demons in the battlefield. Chandika Temple is located in Juchandra – Naigaon, District Palghar, where three forms of Goddess Durga, namely Chandika, Kalika and Mahishasurmardini, are seen together. Many legends are told about this temple. A summary of them is given below.

देवी चंडिका, ज्याला चंडिका देवी किंवा चंडीमाता म्हणूनही ओळखले जाते, चंडिका हे दुर्गा देवीचे एक रूप आहे. माँ शेरावाली अशी सिंहावर आरूढ होऊन रणांगणात अनेक राक्षसांचा संहार करण्यास अनेक रुपात प्रगट होते. अश्या माता दुर्गे च्या विविध रुपां पैकी चंडिका, कालिका आणी महिषासुरमर्दिनी या तीन रुपाचे एकत्रित दर्शन जेथे होते ते  ठिकाण म्हणजे चंडिका मंदिर जुचन्द्र – नायगाव, जिल्हा पालघर येथे आहे. या मंदिराच्या अनेक आख्यायिका सांगीतल्या जातात. त्यापैकी सारांश खाली देत आहे.

According to a legend, this temple dates back to the Pandava period. It was founded by the Pandavas themselves. Mahishasurmardini herself visited this mountain after killing Mahishasura. The grand pillars at the back of the temple were carved in Pandavani. According to another legend, the stone used in the construction of the Vasai fort was taken from this mountain. At that time, the craftsmen who built the fort established Trivedi Chandika, Kalika and Mahishasurmardini.

एका आख्यायिके प्रमाणे हे मंदिर पांडव कालीन आहे. याची स्थापना स्वतः पांडवांनी केली. स्वतः महिषासुरमर्दिनी हिने महिषासुराचा वध केल्यानंतर या डोंगरावर भेट दिली होती. मंदिराच्या पाठी असलेल्या भव्य शिळा pandavani कोरण्यात आल्या होत्या. अजून एका आख्यायिकेनुसार वसईचा किल्ला बनवते वेळी लागणारा दगड या डोंगरावरून नेण्यात आला होता. त्यावेळी किल्ला बनवणाऱ्या कारागिरांनी येथे त्रिवेदी चंडिका, कालिका आणी महिषासुरमर्दिनी यांची स्थापना केली.

Personal Experience to visit Chandika temple juchandra naigaon

It was a long time since I saw Chandika Mata Temple. By share rickshaw from Naigaon station in Pachim suburb, we reached near Chandika Mata temple and on the road we saw juchandra station on the road. Reached the base of the temple in just 15 minutes from Naigaon. There are two ways to reach here. There was an elevator on one side and stairs on the other side. On the way we chose the lift route and on the way back we chose the Paryai. Amazingly, there are almost 200 steps in total. So youth does not need a lift. On the other hand, while walking on the stairs, the mind becomes more cheerful in the presence of the surrounding nature.

चंडिका माता मंदिर हे पाहण्याचा योग बरेच दिवसानी आला. Pachim उपनगरातील नायगाव स्टेशन येथून शेअर रिक्षा करून आम्ही चंडिका माता मंदिराजवळ पोहोचलो येताना रस्त्यात आम्हाला juchandra स्टेशन ही रस्त्यातच दिसले. नायगाव पासून अवघ्या 15 मिनिटात मंदिराच्या पायथ्याशी पोहोचलो. येथे पोहोचल्यावर दोन मार्ग होते. त्या पैकी एका बाजूस लिफ्ट आणी दुसर्‍या बाजूस पायर्‍या होत्या. जाताना आम्ही लिफ्ट मार्ग निवडला.आणी परतीच्या वेळी आम्ही पर्यआय नीवडला. गम्मत म्हणजे एकूण जवळपास 200 पायर्‍या आहेत. त्यामुळे तरुणाईला लिफ्ट ची गरज नाही. उलट पायर्‍या वरुन चालताना सभोवतालचा निसर्गाच्या सानिध्यात मन अधिक प्रफुल्लित होते.

On reaching the main temple, the idols of all the three deities can be seen in front of them with a tall and magnificent pillar behind them. Hence, the goddess has taken an actual avtar in creating a war-like atmosphere in the battlefield. It seems so. Water can be seen coming from the rock next to the idol during rain. Adjacent to the goddess is a brass idol of a lion, the vehicle of the goddess. The temple hall is spacious. Mahajan de yagya and other events, home havan are celebrated here during Navratri. The gallery outside the temple offers a view of the entire Juchandra Naigaon, and the scenic area up to Vasai.

मुख्य मंदिरात पोहोचल्यावर समोरच तीनही देवतांच्या मूर्ती दृष्टीस येतात त्यांच्या पाठीमागे उंच आणी भव्य शिळा आहे. त्यामुळे रणांगणात युद्धसदृश वातावरणनिर्मिती मध्ये देवीने प्रत्यक्ष avtar घेतला आहे. असे भासते. मूर्तीच्या शेजारील पाषाणातून पावसात पाणी येताना दिसते. शेजारी देवीचे देवीचे वाहन सिंह याची पितळी मूर्ती आहे. मंदिराचा हॉल प्रशस्त आहे. नवरात्रीच्या काळात येथे महाजन डी यज्ञ आणि इतर कार्यक्रम, होम हवन साजरे केले जातात. मंदिराच्या बाहेर असलेल्या गॅलरी मधून संपूर्ण juchandra नायगाव, आणी वसई पर्यंतचा निसर्गरम्य परिसर दृष्टीस पडतो.

हे मंदिर त्याच्या सुंदर वास्तुकला आणि शांत परिसरासाठी ओळखले जाते. असे मानले जाते की देवी चंडिका तिच्या भक्तांच्या इच्छा पूर्ण करते जे मंदिरात शुद्ध अंतःकरणाने आणि प्रामाणिक भक्ती करतात. मंदिर सणांमध्ये मोठ्या संख्येने भाविकांना आकर्षित करते, विशेषत: नवरात्रोत्सवादरम्यान जेव्हा विशेष धार्मिक समारंभ आणि सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम आयोजित केले जातात.
